He isn’t officially Mr. Miley Cyrus yet, but Liam Hemsworth still wears a wedding band. Why? Well, according to a new report, the Aussie hunk, 27 — who was spotted wearing a ring on that finger during a recent trip to the Cyrus family’s estate in Kentucky — is doing so in order to prove his commitment to the “Malibu” songstress.

“He wears that ring as more of a ‘promise’ to Miley, but they are not officially married,” an insider told E! News. “The only thing that is missing is the legal piece of paper. The pair is not focused on planning a wedding at this time. They are more focused on making their love as strong as possible.”

As previously reported, Miley, 24, and Liam met on the set of 2010’s The Last Song and got engaged in June 2012. After taking an extended break beginning in September 2013, they quietly started seeing each other again in December 2015. Though the pair had prepared to revive their wedding plans, a source told Life & Style exclusively that Liam just isn’t ready for married life.

“Bottom line, Liam got cold feet,” the insider said, while another source said that the stress of planning a wedding and their future “seemed to be taking over their life.” While Miley was excited to walk down the aisle, she reluctantly agreed to put their nuptials on hold.

“Miley was really having fun imagining her wedding,” the source added, “but she knows it’s important to put a hold on everything. She loves Liam and wants it to last forever when they take that step. But it can’t be now.”

Back in May, the former Hannah Montana actress said that she believes her breakup from Liam has only made their bond stronger. “People that break up and get back together — I think that’s awesome because you know it’s true, but also you get time to be yourself, you get time to grow up,” she explained on SiriusXM’s Hits 1 radio show.

Miley added, “If you’re growing up attached to another person, you never really get solid as your own being. So I’m really solid and he gets to be really solid and together, we get to be two really grounded people — it’s not a half and a half making a whole.”
