The couple is not splitting up but sources reveal exclusively to Life & Style that Miley, 24, and Liam, 27, have called off their wedding — and it wasn't a mutual decision.
“Bottom line, Liam got cold feet,” says one insider. The stress of planning a wedding and their future “seemed to be taking over their life,” says another source.
Miley reluctantly agreed to put their nuptials on hold and slow things down.
“Miley was really having fun imagining her wedding,” adds the source, “but she knows it’s important to put a hold on everything. She loves Liam and wants it to last forever when they take that step. But it can’t be now.”
The "Malibu" singer's mom Tish confirmed the news in a recent interview with Mario Lopez.
"She is not getting married," Tish said of her daughter's plans. "She’s always like, ‘I don’t know why everybody wants us to get married. It’s so perfect [as is].’ ”
Miley and Liam met on the set of The Last Song in 2009 and announced their engagement three years later. However, they called it quits shortly after her infamous MTV VMAs performance with Robin Thicke in 2013.
It wasn't until April of 2016 that the couple was spotted together again and confirmed their engagement was back on.
Fast forward, and the pair is just enjoying the moment.
“People that break up and get back together — I think that’s awesome because you know it’s true, but also you get time to be yourself, you get time to grow up,” Miley said last month. “If you’re growing up attached to another person, you never really get solid as your own being. So I’m really solid and he gets to be really solid and together, we get to be two really grounded people — it’s not a half and a half making a whole.”
