Liam Payne Was ‘Leading a Devastating Double Life’ Before His Tragic Death
The investigation into Liam Payne’s death has taken a shocking turn. A partial autopsy has reportedly found that the singer, 31, had multiple drugs in his system when he fell from his CasaSur Palermo hotel balcony in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on October 16, including cocaine, crack, benzodiazepine and “pink cocaine,” which is a mixture of methamphetamine, ketamine, MDMA and more. “On the outside, Liam was all smiles. But on the inside, he was hurting,” an insider exclusively tells Life & Style. “He was basically leading a devastating double life.”
Members of One Direction, however, are choosing to remember the good times they shared with their late bandmate. “Liam had an energy for life and a passion for work that was infectious,” Niall Horan, 31, said. Harry Styles, 30, echoed his sentiments in a statement, writing, “[Liam’s] greatest joy was making other people happy.” Louis Tomlinson revealed that he and Liam had actually gotten closer since the band broke up in 2016. “Speaking on the phone for hours, reminiscing about all the thousands of amazing memories we had together is a luxury I thought I’d have with [him] for life,” Louis, 32, admitted.
And while Zayn Malik butted heads with Liam “a few times,” he credits the singer with supporting him through some of his hardest times. “When I was missing home as a 17-year-old kid, you would always be there with a positive outlook and reassuring smile and let me know [that] you were my friend and that I was loved,” Zayn, 31, recalled. “I hope that wherever you are right now … you know how loved you are.”
