Lip Reader Reveals What Morgan Wallen Said Before His ‘SNL’ Walk Off: ‘I Had a Wonderful Time’
Morgan Wallen shocked fans when he abruptly walked off stage before the end of the March 29 episode of Saturday Night Live, and a lip reader reveals to Life & Style what she believes he said during his exit.
Before musical guest Morgan, 31, walked off stage during the credits, lip reader Nicola Hickling tells Life & Style on behalf of Slingo that she believes he told host Mikey Madison, “Thank you all so much. I had a wonderful time. Thank you all, mwah mwah mwah.”
Mikey, 26, then apparently told him, “Chatting to you was really good.”
Nicola adds that SNL star Colin Jost seemingly said about Morgan, “You gotta remember how he is feeling.”
Many fans were shocked that Morgan left the stage when the credits began to roll, as that portion of the show usually sees the cast hugging and mingling as they celebrate the end of the episode. Several viewers rushed to social media to slam the “Cowgirls” singer amid the incident, with one person asking, “Why would he book the appearance if he doesn’t want to be there?”
A second person called the moment “so incredibly odd.”
However, others thought the moment was funny. “Oh man leaving them all there like that is hilarious. Look at them all. You can tell they’re butthurt,” a third person chimed in.
Meanwhile, Morgan hinted at his exit while sharing a photo from his private plane via his Instagram Stories. “Get me to God’s country,” he captioned the snapshot, which was uploaded shortly after he walked off stage.
Not only did fans share their thoughts on Morgan’s exit, but longtime SNL star Kenan Thompson also weighed in during a recent interview.

“I don’t know what goes through people’s minds when they decide to do stuff like that. I don’t know if he understood the assignment or not, or if he was really feeling a certain kind of way,” Kenan, 46, said about Morgan while speaking to Entertainment Weekly.
The comedian added that he “definitely saw it” when Morgan prematurely walked off stage. “You see somebody before you get a chance to say hi or say good job or anything like that, they just dipping,” Kenan recalled. “I thought maybe he had to go to the potty or something.”
While Kenan admitted he wasn’t sure what led Morgan to leave the show early, he did say that it was “definitely a spike in the norm.”
“We’re so used to everybody just turning around and high-fiving us, everybody’s saying, ‘Good job, good job, good job,’” Kenan said. “So when there’s a departure from that, it’s like, hmm, I wonder what that’s about?”
After noting that he “never met” Morgan during his recent appearance on the show or during the musician’s past SNL episodes, Kenan said that he “seems like a complicated individual.” However, he did note that the “Last Night” singer is not the first musical guest to have left the show early.
“Prince did the same thing,” Kenan pointed out. “I’m not saying Morgan Wallen is Prince, but we weren’t surprised because Prince was notoriously kind of standoffish. It’s just how he was. So we just thought like, OK, now he’s gone back into fantasyland.'”
