‘Love Is Blind’ Star Lauren’s Ex Reportedly Reveals Himself on Instagram and Creates More Questions
Love Is Blind star David “Dave” Bettenburg struggled with accepting that fiancée Lauren O’Brien had been in a casual relationship with another man shortly before arriving to film season 8. While neither Dave nor Lauren gave any identifying information about her ex, a man named Daniel Nides claimed to be him via Instagram.
Love Is Blind TikToker Storytime With Rikki shared screenshots and information from Daniel’s now-private Instagram account, including a poster he created himself that mimicked the Love Is Blind promotional images for the cast. In his photo, Daniel is in front of a purple background with the words, “Time to swap leg day for love day,” written above his head. He also wrote that he is 37 years old and a lawyer.
Rikki explained that Lauren, 31, and Dave, 33, had some mutual friends and Daniel actually “knows” Dave or “knows of him at the very least.” She claimed that Daniel had sent one of their friends a DM.
“Apparently, [Daniel] texted one of [Lauren and Dave’s] mutual friends and was like, ‘Let’s blow up this wedding,’ and wanted the friend group to tell Dave about him [sic] and Lauren’s relationship, so that he could be part of the plot,” Rikki alleged in a TikTok video posted on Sunday, February 23.
Rikki also claimed that Daniel had been “plotting before the season even aired” after she viewed a video where he implied that he was going to be interviewed regarding the Love Is Blind drama. He also allegedly posted a video where he had superimposed his face over that of Bill Clinton’s famous interview where the former president said the infamous line, “I did not have sexual relations with that woman.” A third photo allegedly shared to his Instagram Story was a photo of Daniel with the words, “Netflix can have what’s left of me.”

“I’m not sure what his story is, considering Lauren was very forthcoming about their relationship on the show. She literally said, ‘We were casually dating, and we were hooking up. It was nothing serious, and it was nothing that was going to keep me from going on the show and finding my husband,” Rikki said.
The content creator also alleged that Daniel posted a screenshot of a message he claimed to have been from the Love Is Blind production company that read, “Hey Daniel, I’m with the production company filming for the Netflix Series Love is Blind in Minneapolis. I think you have a past romantic connection to a cast member. Do you want to connect over the phone or in person this week? We would love to hear your story.”
Life & Style reached out to Daniel about the situation, but he refrained from commenting.
During episodes 7 through 9 of Love Is Blind season 8, Lauren and Dave discussed her past relationship extensively, and Dave felt like it was “weird” that he knew of two people that she had previously been in relationships with. After the episodes aired, Lauren spoke with Vulture and admitted that she felt a “shift” in Dave’s attitude after they returned to Minneapolis and were given back their phones. By the end of episode 9, Dave told Lauren that he wasn’t “comfortable” staying in the apartment with her.
However, fans will have to wait and see how Lauren and Dave’s love story unfolds when the remaining episodes of Love Is Blind season 8 premiere on Netflix on Friday, February 28, and March 3.
