Love Is Blind’s Lauren O’Brien Reveals Which Season 8 Cast Member She Briefly Dated After Dave Split
Lauren O’Brien’s search for love didn’t end after she and ex-fiancé Dave Bettenburg called it quits before walking down the aisle during Love Is Blind season 8. In fact, the Netflix star revealed she dated fellow pod squad singleton Scott Sanderson after filming wrapped.
“He had reached out,” Lauren, 32, told Amanda Hirsch during a teaser of the upcoming “Not Skinny But Not Fat” podcast, Us Weekly reported on Monday, March 24. “He was someone that I had connected with in the pods.”
Lauren explained that she and Scott, 34, decided to date for six months after she and Dave, 33, split and shed light on the compatibility process on Love Is Blind.
“When they bring people onto this, we take all of these compatibility tests with the goal being that there are multiple people you’re compatible with in the pods,” she explained. “It’s not just like you show up and there’s one person that is there for you and hopefully you find them.”
That being said, Lauren said she “owed it to [herself]” to see if her romantic connection with Scott would progress after they platonically reconnected after meeting on the show.
“We kind of explored it a little bit on our own first, then decided to bring it to [Dave],” Lauren shared. “It wasn’t the most fun thing to deal with in terms of – because he and Dave are friends.”
After revealing that she and Scott “decided to be really good friends,” she dished on Dave’s reaction when he was informed about her relationship with Scott. Although Dave told Scott he was “all good” with his relationship with his ex-fiancée, Lauren alluded that Dave whispered to other friends that she may have moved on “too soon” after their split.
Lauren and Dave faced hiccups in their relationship after he grew concerned about their engagement lasting outside the pods.

Dave offended Lauren when he hid her from his family as he feared how some of them would react to their engagement. However, the fling Lauren had right before filming started is what really caused their split. Dave was made aware of Lauren’s past hookup buddy by his sister, Nikki Bettenburg, but was told it was a more serious relationship than it was.
“But having to explain that to — I know my sister’s a big part of it. But the reason she’s such a big part of that is because she knows the guy that Lauren had been ‘seeing,’ and she was just like, there’s just absolutely no way,” Dave told People on March 1. “And I got to the point where I was like, I’m not going to force my best friends and family members to come watch me say no at the altar when I knew that was going to be my answer based on the information I had at that time. I just thought it was pointless.”
Dave opened up about the situation at the season 8 reunion on March 9, claiming that the unidentified man was “planting this idea” of his relationship with Lauren to his sister and friends, “knowing it would get back to me.”
“It was all fabricated and he did it on purpose because he’s trying to manipulate his way into the show,” Dave told People at the time. “Honestly, it’s embarrassing and it’s desperate for attention and it’s pathetic.”
