Nothing like a mother’s love. One day after rapper Mac Miller died at just 26 years old from an apparent drug overdose, his mom Karen Meyers is breaking her social media silence in a heartbreaking way. She took to Instagram on Saturday, Sept. 8, to share a photo of her with her son that seemed to show the type of bond they had.

In the pic, which looked like it was taken during a family outing to a baseball game, Mac smiled wide as he leaned his head against his mom’s as she smiled at the camera. Karen added a broken heart emoji in the caption.

Even though Karen didn’t write anything else on Instagram, fans could imagine how she must be feeling after the loss of her son, so they flooded the comments with sweet messages.

“Your son was just an amazing person with the biggest heart ever. I’m so sorry for your loss, I’m completely devastated and heartbroken for you and your family,” one fan wrote, and another commented, “If you only knew how much of an impact your son had on me and the light he brought to my life. God bless you, ma’am. You helped change the world.”

Karen seemed to be one of Mac’s biggest supporters, and she would regularly gush over her son’s success on social media. Last month, she promoted his appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, and she took a photo of a billboard ad for his last album, Swimming, and shared a heartbreaking message. “Couldn’t be prouder of this young man. See you in October @ The Greek Theatre!” Karen wrote in the caption.

But Mac passed away on Friday, Sept. 7 —  just one month before he could begin his tour. Cops responded to a call at his Studio City home at 11:42 a.m. and the LAPD confirmed to Radar that he was pronounced dead upon arrival.
