Madelyn Cline Reportedly Unfollows Rudy Pankow and GF Elaine Siemek Amid Rumored ‘Outer Banks’ Drama
Outer Banks fans are now convinced that Madelyn Cline is no longer on good terms with former costar Rudy Pankow. The actress recently unfollowed Rudy and his girlfriend, Elaine Siemek, on Instagram, according to fans. Life & Style checked and can confirm that Madelyn is not following either of them on the social media site.
When Rudy, 26, posted about his exit from the Netflix series on November 15, Madelyn, 26, popped into the comments section with a “red heart” emoji. It appeared that the two were on amicable terms at that point, but by November 23, fans noticed that she was no longer following him or Elaine, 28.
“Madelyn unfollowing rudy offically [sic] marks the end of obx s1 family…. im so sad bro,” one person wrote on X, while another added, “I’m not gonna lie madelyn unfollowing rudy has me kinda gagged.” Someone else said, “I’m just saying if madelyn out of all people decided to unfollow rudy you know he’s done something f–ked up, she’s never been one to do something like this.”
Fans have theorized that Madelyn’s unfollowing stemmed from something that happened on Elaine’s recent birthday trip (she turned 28 years old on November 21). During the trip, Elaine posted a photo on her Instagram Story with Kate McDuffie, who fans said Madelyn also unfollowed on Instagram, despite the two previously being best friends.
“It’s so obvious elaine stole her from madelyn, and she wants it to be known, and i get madelyn bcs stealing someone’s best friend is actually disgusting and not okay,” one fan commented on X. Someone else pointed out, “Madelyn cline unfollowing rudy, elaine and her ex friend kate ouuu the drama is crazy,” while another fan wrote, “During all of these [sic] Madelyn still was the closest to him even during s4 premiere so what happened is personal and its something between Rudy Elaine Madelyn and Kate.”
Speculation about apparent drama between Rudy and Madelyn comes after fans also theorized that he is no longer close with another Outer Banks cast member, Madison Bailey. Fans have accused the two – whose characters were in a relationship on the show – of lacking chemistry during Rudy’s final season and have blamed Elaine, as well as Madison’s girlfriend, Mariah Linney, for the apparent falling out. After all, fans previously felt so strongly about Rudy and Madison’s chemistry that they begged writers to give their characters a romantic storyline.
“The really awful part for both of them is the way their girlfriends got dragged into the drama,” a source exclusively told Life & Style. “The horrible things that their fans have said online and the comments they’ve left on social media have been brutal. That has caused the most hurt by far and it did make them both quite defensive and protective.”
However, the insider also confirmed that filming had become “difficult” for Rudy and Madison, 25. “There were a lot of whispers that things soured between them,” the source added. “They were very close friends at one point and something did seem to happen to break that bond, which obviously would make filming together a struggle at times. They’re both super professional so it didn’t cause issues on the set or with their performances, but there was a lot of gossip flying around about how strained things were between them the moment the cameras were off.”
Rudy’s character, JJ Maybank, was killed off the show in the season 4 finale. Outer Banks will return for a fifth and final season.
