Malika Haqq Reflects on Freezing Eggs 1 Year Before Getting Pregnant: ‘I Made a Baby in Love’
While Malika Haqq recently announced she’s pregnant, the 36-year-old she always knew she wanted to become a parent. The mom-to-be revealed she froze her eggs before unexpectedly getting pregnant naturally.
“Deciding to freeze my eggs as a gift to myself on my 35th birthday was pretty hilarious now at this point because I have eggs in the freezer I may never use,” she admitted on Tuesday, November 12, during Facebook Watch’s Side by Side alongside her sister, Khadijah Haqq. “I made a baby in love and those eggs weren’t necessary. It’s funny how you plan and then life happens.”
Now that she’s expecting a bundle of joy, she couldn’t be happier. “The reason why I was so excited to learn that I was pregnant was because I knew that my life was going to change for the better, the greatest blessing that I’ve always wanted but didn’t know I was going to get, is finally here,” she gushed.
The actress is expecting her first child with her ex O.T. Genasis. whom she was with for two years. In June, she confessed she was no longer with him when she posted an Instagram photo with the caption, “single.” On the bright side, they seem to be on good terms. She’s leaving it up to him whether or not he wants to be involved in the baby’s life.
“Malika didn’t want to make O.T. part of her pregnancy journey unless he wanted to be involved,” an insider told Us Weekly. “They are talking and feeling it out. He’s been getting more involved as her pregnancy has progressed.” In addition, they were recently spotted in Los Angeles getting pampered together. They were “very comfortable with each other and were friendly and laughing a lot,” according to the source.
O.T. isn’t the only one who’s showing his support throughout this journey. Malika’s best friend Khloé Kardashian was one of the first people to show her love on social media “Congratulations Mika May!!!!!” Khloé wrote on a photo her bestie shared in September. “I am so beyond overwhelmed with love and happiness!!!! God is GREAT!!!! We are all so blessed!!!! I love you and baby madly.” We can’t wait for True Thompson and Malika’s baby to have playdates someday!
