Poor Duchess of Sussex! Instead of living happily ever after with Prince Harry, Meghan Markle has been coping with a huge amount of stress as her father, Thomas Markle, and siblings, Samantha and Thomas Jr., lash out against her and the royal family on a near-daily basis. While she’s weathering the embarrassment quietly, Meghan has had about all she can take.

Life & Style has learned that Meghan’s planned an emergency trip to her hometown of LA, where she’ll spend time with her beloved mother, Doria Ragland, and figure out a way to deal with all the drama. “She’s at a breaking point. She needs to escape from the craziness,” reveals an insider in the magazine’s newest issue, on newsstands now. “Meghan is living in fear of what her father is going to do next,” the insider adds.

Apart from Harry, Doria is the only person Meghan feels she can trust,” says an insider. “She’s holding a crisis meeting with her mom, who has some insight into her ex-husband’s behavior and is hoping to help Meghan figure out how to handle him.”

Meghan hopes that spending time with her mother in LA will help her find peace. “She’s really struggling to come to terms with the fact that the man she once adored and looked up to has stabbed her in the back,” the insider says, adding that Meghan’s husband, 33, supports the trip. “Harry and Doria have spoken on the phone about their concerns for Meghan’s well-being. Harry agrees that Meghan needs some quality time with her mom.”

While Meghan wants to stay at her 61-year-old mother’s home when she’s in LA, the insider says that the palace “may rent a mansion for them to stay in” for security reasons. But no matter where they wind up, Meghan is aiming to have a brighter outlook by the end of her visit.

“She’ll also catch up with old friends during her trip to California,” the insider says. “She feels so alone in London and can’t wait to be around those who’ve known her for years, in a place where she can really be herself again.”
