Meghan Markle Played a ‘FedEx’ Girl Before She Was Duchess of Sussex: Look Back at Netflix Star’s Roles
Before Meghan Markle became British royalty by marrying Prince Harry, she worked as an up-and-coming actress for years prior landing a leading part on Suits. Life & Style takes a look back at roles Meghan played prior to becoming the Duchess of Sussex.
Meghan Markle Appeared on ‘General Hospital’
Meghan’s first credited acting gig was on a 2002 episode of General Hospital, taking a phone call while at a nurse’s station. Her father, Thomas Markle, had previously worked as the show’s lighting director. The few lines she delivered were enough for Meghan to get her Screen Actors Guild card.
Meghan Markle Appeared in the ‘Beverly Hills, 90210’ Reboot
The actress had the small part of Wendy in two episodes of 90210 in 2008, including the opening scene of the premiere. Her character was shown in car after giving oral sex to Dustin Milligan‘s Ethan while Shenae Grimes‘ Annie Wilson looked on in shock.

Meghan Markle Played a FedEx Delivery Girl in ‘Horrible Bosses’
Meghan had a brief but memorable scene opposite Jason Sudeikis in the 2011 comedy Horrible Bosses. While waiting for him to sign for a package, Jason’s character of Kurt Buckman asked if he was “on one of those hidden camera shows.” When Meghan asked what he meant, he told her, “Because you’re way too cute to be a FedEx girl. You’ve gotta be like a model or actress or something, right?” She smiled and left after their brief flirtation.
Meghan Markle Was a Fairy Tale Killer on ‘Castle’
The Netflix star appeared on an episode of ABC’s Castle in 2012, titled “Once Upon a Crime.” Meghan played serial killer Charlotte Boyd, whose victims were dressed up as characters such as Snow White and Little Red Riding Hood. Charlotte staged her own attempted murder by dressing herself up as Sleeping Beauty. However, she tied the bow differently on her costume than on her victims, leading Richard Castle and Detective Kate Beckett to conclude she was the murderer who tried to throw them off by staging her own attack.
Meghan Markle Got Her Big Break on ‘Suits’
The With Love, Meghan star landed her first starring role on USA’s Suits starting in 2011. She played paralegal Rachel Zane, who ended up falling in love with the show’s lead, Patrick J. Adams‘ Mike Ross. The characters married in the Suits season 7 finale in April 2018 , which was the sendoff for both characters, who moved to Seattle to open up a legal clinic.
It ended up being perfect timing for Meghan, as she and Prince Harry announced their engagement on November 27, 2017. The couple began dating in July 2016 after being set up on a blind date in London, England, and married on May 19, 2018.

While Suits ended its run in 2019, two years after Meghan’s departure, it found a new audience on Netflix after it dropped on the streaming service in 2023. The actress called the show’s renewed popularity “wild” but had “no idea” why it became a hit again while talking to Variety at the publication’s 2023 Women in Power event.
“It was great to work on, such a great cast and crew. We had a really fun time. I was on it for seven seasons, so quite a bit. But it’s hard to find a show you can binge-watch that many episodes of these days, so that could have something to do with it. But good shows are everlasting,” she told the outlet.
Meghan revealed she kept one piece of her designer wardrobe from Suits in a March 3, 2025, interview with People. “It’s a time capsule for me — I still have the pencil skirt from the first episode! That’s the one thing I kept,” she shared.
Did Meghan Markle Keep Acting After Becoming the Duchess of Sussex?
Meghan didn’t take any acting roles after leaving Suits. She appeared in the 2022 Netflix docuseries Harry & Meghan and shows off her cooking and hosting skills in the March 2025 Netflix entertaining show, With Love, Meghan.
