Our thoughts are with Mel B during this difficult time.

The former Spice Girl — whose real name is Melanie Brown — took to Instagram on Sunday, March 5, to share the sad news that her father Martin Brown has died. She posted a moving tribute to her dad after he lost his long battle with cancer.

“It is with great sadness after a five [year] battle to multiple myeloma cancer, our loving father Martin Brown passed away age 63 peacefully yesterday. Both of us his children were by his side and would like to say thank you to St. Gemma's and all the doctors and nurses for there amazing care and support over the years. Please respect our privacy and let us as a united family grieve,” the 41-year-old wrote on Instagram. “Be Free Dad.”

The singer shared a gorgeous black-and-white photo of Martin holding hands with her and her 36-year-old sister, Danielle Brown — and judging from the image, the feuding sisters put their differences aside to be there for their dad. Though it is unclear why the America’s Got Talent judge has been at odds with her family — especially with her sibling and their mother Andrea — Danielle shed some light on the subject last month via Twitter.

“I’ve not seen my sister for [eight] years, there is no family reunion planned,” Danielle tweeted at the time. “It is what it is.”

Unfortunately, their reunion came under tragic circumstances. According to TMZ, Mel B has some time off from her gig at AGT so that she can properly mourn her dad's passing. NBC producers also canceled filming for the popular competition show on Monday and Tuesday this week after hearing the news.
