She’s setting the record straight. Bachelor alum, Melissa Rycroft, is apologizing for the comments she made on Kim Kardashian’s Met Gala dress. “If what I said came across as shaming, I am truly, 100 percent sorry,” the 36-year-old told her husband, Tye Strickland, during an episode the pair’s podcast, “Logically Irrational,” on Thursday, May 9.

Shortly after fashion’s biggest night out on Monday, May 6, Melissa, 36, shared a side-by-side image of the KUWTK star, 34, from 2015 and 2019. “Not natural … and not something young ones should be looking up to. (Not to mention it doesn’t even look right),” she wrote, along with the hashtag “Met Gala fail.”

“I was a mom, looking at a woman who has this unattainable look to her and just said, ‘I don’t want our young girls to look [at the photo] and say, I can be like that,’ when really we can’t,” she expressed. “In the photo, she’s wearing a corseted dress. Her waist was the size of her head. Her hips were obviously the normal size of her hips, and it looked like Jessica Rabbit … I’m not saying that as a diss,” Melissa continued.

The mother-of-three went on to point out that she wasn’t “the only person” who noticed Kim’s extreme appearance. In fact, plenty of people accused Kim of plastic surgery following her red carpet appearance. “I was very careful not to put down her looks,” she noted. “I went, ‘I don’t want to say she looks weird, I don’t want to say she looks ugly. I don’t want to say she’s a bad mom.’”

Ultimately, Melissa clarified that she only said Kim looked “unnatural” and that her post was hardly meant for “shock value” or to “get a rise out of people.” Melissa concluded, “I never meant to say anything really bad about it. My only point was, the kids out there, let’s give them something attainable to strive for.”
