Black and white and red (lip) all over! Moira embodied the shrugging emoji while at practice in a zebra-print shirt, long necklace and chunky heels.

The mom of two (both IRL and on TV) added a rare pop of color to her usually monochromatic pieces.

Three words: Trash. Bag. Chic.

Moira’s wigs have become staples on the show, and there’s a reason for that. “The origin of the idea is, yes, it’s a mood. It’s sometimes one that goes with my outfit but, more often than not, it doesn’t,” she told the Times. “Sometimes we say, ‘No, that’s too matchy.’ I think more women should wear wigs. They’re fun. It’s a great accessory.”

They also represent something a bit deeper. “They remind Moira, and the world and this town, who I think I’ve been and who I intend to be again. I’m not going to lose that. It’s like, I’m here, but I’m not really here, because look at me. I don’t fit in and I’ll never fit in. So there’s something very protective about it. Defensive. And you look at some of the jewelery, it’s really defensive. It’s sometimes offensive.”

Turns out, Daniel Levy, who plays David on the hit series and is the show’s creator, had a helping hand in all of Moira’s looks. “We never did a fitting without Daniel,” she said. “I’d come out of the dressing room and he would hold things at my neck, change the shoe or add some necklaces — again, accessorize. Sometimes he or [costume designer] Deb [Hanson] would say, ‘No, too many.'”

“They would shop all year long online,” she said of the dynamic duo. “The fashion that I’m wearing is high-end designer. You can’t fake that. Not very well.”

Like this LBD, er, large?? black dress. Catherine said this is actually her favorite of Moira’s get-ups. “The outfit I chose to wear to go look for David in Amish country. That was really fun.”

More fun than this? We’ll call it a close second.

If you notice, Moira often dons clunky shoes that she can barely walk in, making her character all the more intriguing.

Gasp! There’s not even a teeny hint of black in this dress for The Crows Have Eyes 3: The Crowning premiere.

Dan Levy told Vanity Fair that he and Schitt’s Creek hairstylist Ana Sorys made sure to have between eight and 10 wigs available on set. “Oftentimes, she would choose the wig right before she went on set, so it was very impulsive,” he said. “Whatever wig called to her, she would put it on, twist it around, wear it sideways or wear it backwards.”

Believe it or not, Catherine’s black and white ensembles were inspired by a real-life fashion figure: Daphne Guinness, the brewery heiress and fashion muse who pairs extreme couture with whimsical accessories.

The actress said that she brought photos of Guinness to an early creative meeting with Dan and Eugene and explained the rationale behind Moira’s look.

“[Guiness’] wardrobe, it’s just so great and extreme. It’s strong and it’s armor, which is perfect when you’ve had your life ripped out from under you, like Moira, and you’re in this place that’s like the town you got out of earlier in life,” Catherine told The New Yorker.

“Moira just has so much to show, she believes, but doesn’t know quite what that is yet,” she further told Vulture.

“And if you can externally present different versions of yourself with the help of great wigs and wardrobe, then it boosts your confidence. ‘I have more to me, too. I can be different. I can still grow.’”

Moira doesn’t just look different from everyone in the small town of Schitt’s Creek, she also sounds different — speaking with an unplaceable accent and peculiar intonations. “Underneath the brambly tartan blousant is a chrysalis bursting with potential,” she told Stevie, played by actress Emily Hampshire,  ahead of her debut in the town production of Cabaret.

And who could forget when she told her son he was acting like a “disgruntled pelican?”

In other words, we are positively elated *Moira voice* this Canadian sitcom made its way to our American television screens. @Daniel, one more season?
