It’s a vibe. Mulled wine hair is making a major comeback this holiday season, but the trend has been taking the celebrity world by storm, with several of the hottest stars trying out the fierce ~lewk~ over the years, ranging from Ariana Grande to Chelsea Houska and Demi Lovato. If you haven’t heard of the hair color before, it’s a way to describe that reddish, burgundy tone that can only be achieved with dye.

Whether it’s for a television role, red carpet event or just for fun, there’s a hand full of celebs who have rocked the winter hair fad!

The seasonal (alcoholic) beverage was the original inspiration for the color because it incorporates all sorts of different tones, from purple to orange and chocolate brown. New York City–based colorist, Rachel Bodt, told Allure it’s a great way for ladies to go red without doing it in the traditional sense.

“It looks super dimensional, youthful, and is a way more modern way to pull off a deep, red color,” she said.

As you may have expected, it might take a few appointments to get that perfect mulled wine hair color. People with dark hair will have to lighten their locks first before applying the new dye in order to achieve that beautiful blended hue.
