Taylor Swift Drops Quiet Lyric Updates, Leaving Fans Guessing About Her Next Move

Swifties, take note!

After Apple Music upgraded Taylor Swifts’ catalog to Dolby Atmos, fans spotted subtle changes in a couple of tracks from Swift’s hit 2017 album, Reputation.

The superstar seemed to quietly alter lyrics in two songs: “I Did Something Bad” and “Delicate” on the streaming platform.

On the original “I Did Something Bad,” the line “But if he drops my name, then I owe him nothing / And if he spends my change, then he had it comin’” has been updated to “If a man talks s—, then I owe him nothing / And if he calls me a b***h, then he had it comin’.”

Meanwhile, track five, Delicate, received a minor change as well, with “Oh, d*mn, never seen that color blue” now reading “G*dd*mn, never seen that color blue.”

Before reclaiming her masters in May 2025, the 35-year-old Love Story singer re-recorded four of her first six albums: Fearless, Red, Speak Now, and 1989.

She has yet to re-record her 2006 debut album, Taylor Swift and Reputation.

After regaining control of her masters, Swift finally addressed whether she plans to re-record Reputation.

“I know, I know. What about Rep TV? Full transparency: I haven’t even re-recorded a quarter of it. The Reputation album was so specific to that time in my life, and I kept hitting a stopping point when I tried to remake it.”

“All that defiance, that longing to be understood while feeling purposely misunderstood, that desperate hope, that shame-born snarl and mischief,” she continued in a letter posted to her website.

Swift then admitted, “To be perfectly honest, it’s the one album in those first 6 that I thought couldn’t be improved upon by redoing it. Not the music, or the photos, or videos. So I kept putting it off. There will be a time (if you’re into the idea) for the unreleased vault tracks from that album to hatch.”

Listeners are left guessing about the reason behind the lyric updates, but many Swifties are speculating that it could be connected to Reputation (Taylor’s Version).

With Taylor’s birthday coming up on Saturday, December 13, fans are eagerly anticipating that she might have a surprise in store.
