Things seem to be going well for Nikki Bella and ex John Cena as they both explore new horizons in their dating lives, but that doesn’t mean the Total Bellas star wants to rehash the past, either. The 35-year-old is decidedly “avoiding WrestleMania” on April 7, according to Us Weekly.

“I never thought the man of my dreams was gonna ask me to marry him and he did,” she explained to the outlet, clearly still a bit raw over the memory of the 41-year-old’s proposal at WrestleMania 33 back in April 2017.  “So it’s still a bit sensitive for me.”

Despite the fact that Nikki says she’s “seen him a few times” since their split, she’s adamant about skipping the festivities at Metlife Stadium for the NJ-based event to essentially avoid her former beau.

It makes sense she would want to keep her distance, though, considering how great things seem to be with her new BF! Nikki finally confirmed her relationship with her former Dancing with the Stars partner Artem Chigvintsev after a ton of speculation and we couldn’t have been happier with the news.

“Artem and I are dating. We are not engaged, we are not married, we’re not boyfriend and girlfriend, we don’t say ‘I love you,’” Nikki confessed on her podcast on March 27. “Yeah, we make out. What else? He’s a great kisser.”

As for John, he’s got something brewing in the love department, too. The WWE star has been spotted out several times in Vancouver with new girl Shay Shariatzadeh, according to eyewitnesses who spoke with Life & Style exclusively — and the duo seems to be enjoying each other’s company quite a bit.

Before the new relationships, Nikki and John dated for five years and got engaged in April 2017. But unfortunately, the engagement didn’t last and they broke it off in April 2018 — just weeks before they were supposed to say “I do.” The wrestling duo got together one last time before a final, official breakup in summer 2018. Nikki and Artem, 36, were romantically linked shortly following the split.
