Poppy Delevingne Is Pregnant With Baby No. 1 With Partner Archie Keswick: ‘No Hiding This Bump’
The Delevingne crew is adding another girl to the mix! Model Poppy Delevingne, whose sisters are Cara Delevingne and Chloe Delevingne, revealed that she’s pregnant with her first child with partner Archie Keswick.
“She’s all I’ve ever really wanted,” Poppy, 38, told Elle UK in an interview published on January 17.
The London native waited until she was close to the four-month mark before she and Archie, 44, revealed the news to even their closest friends and family. Poppy admitted that she felt as though she needed to protect herself and the little one.
“I always imagined that if this moment had ever happened to me I would have told people,” Poppy explained to the publication. “But it was quite extraordinary, I became very tight lipped about it. I think I just wanted to protect it more than anything.”
However, once she made it six months into her pregnancy, Poppy said the news had to come out to the public because there was “no hiding this bump anymore.”
She added, “I spent the last two months trying to squeeze into everything, and it’s just not helpful for anyone.”
The Kingsman: The Golden Circle star confessed that her age also played into her anxiety about the pregnancy and said, “I think I was really nervous, as well. It just feels like such an extraordinary privilege to be able to do this, to be able to have a baby at this age and at this time, and when it happened, I couldn’t really believe it. It still feels really surreal.”
Poppy revealed that she discovered she was pregnant during London Fashion Week. The British model explained that she had noticed something had felt “off” for the two weeks prior, and when she was being fitted for Burberry’s SS25 show, she said her clothing was tighter. As soon as the show ended, she took a test, which confirmed the news.
While Poppy always thought she would wait to find out if she was having a boy or a girl, the temptation proved to be too much.
“Obviously, I would have been fine with either and when I was younger I always thought when I get pregnant, I wouldn’t find out, but the second we got told we could find out, we did,” the socialite told the outlet. “I’m so excited. I come from all girls, we’re very girl heavy. Girls are great.”
As for Chloe, 39, and Cara, 32, Poppy says they’re “elated” with the news.
“We were all in New York, with each other and with the bump and there was a lot of talking to the bump, stroking the bump,” Poppy gushed about the time she spent with her sisters over the holidays.
The baby girl will be Archie’s third child (he has two kids from a previous relationship,) but Poppy said he was “born to be a dad” and that he’s been “incredible” throughout her pregnancy, along with her friends and family.
“I’ve really looked to my friends and the important women in my life have really carried me through this,” Poppy explained. “When women come together with this fountain of knowledge, it’s amazing. I’ve felt really supported, which has just made me feel so calm.”
