Prince Harry Is “Doing Whatever It Takes” to Comfort Meghan During Her Family Drama
On Aug. 4, her 37th birthday, Meghan Markle held hands with her charming husband, Prince Harry, as they attended the wedding of one of Harry’s friends. It was a sign of the royal couple’s obvious affection — and his gentle support.
With the constant public scrutiny of his bride and her family, Harry, 33, has been doing his best to protect Meghan as they settle into marriage. “He has been comforting her,” a royal insider tells Closer. “He tells his wife not to worry and that her family’s actions are no reflection on her.”
Meghan’s father, Thomas Markle, 74, created a scandal when he was paid for staged paparazzi photos released before his daughter’s wedding, and he told a London paper recently, “There’s a high price to be married to that [royal] family.” All of which has reportedly embarrassed Meghan and strained her relationship with her dad.
Luckily for Meghan, Harry, along with sister-in-law Kate Middleton, 36, are giving her lots of support. “Kate understands what Meghan is going through,” the insider says. “She’s advised Meghan that she just needs to do her best to hold her head up high because she hasn’t done anything wrong.” Harry and Meghan are reportedly considering an “aggressive strategy” to end Meghan’s ongoing family drama with her father once and for all.
Harry has always been protective of his love, and to give her a break from the attention, he and Meghan plan to visit Queen Elizabeth at her summer retreat, Balmoral Castle, and then escape to their cottage in the Cotswolds.
“They spend their time relaxing in the garden, cooking together and going for long walks,” the insider says. “Harry’s doing whatever it takes to help make Meghan feel relaxed before they get back to work in September.”
