Ralph Fiennes Shows off Major Body Transformation at 62 Years Old: Photos of His Fitness Journey

While Ralph’s acting career spans nearly 100 credits, he is perhaps most recognized for playing the villainous Lord Voldemort in the Harry Potter film series. As fans may recall, he went through a bit of a transformation for that role, as well. The actor used prosthetics, makeup and visual effects to get rid of his nose and give Voldemort his signature pale, bald and veiny appearance.

Diet and Exercise

Ralph’s more recent transformation was the result of old-fashioned diet and exercise, he revealed to The Guardian. With help from personal trainer Dan Avasilcai, Ralph did a mix of weight training and running and consumed a diet of proteins, complex carbohydrates and vegetables.

‘Old Rope’

Though Ralph looks muscular in The Return, he made sure not to overdo it, per instructions from director Uberto Pasolini. “Uberto was very clear. He didn’t want me to have a sort of bulked-up gym body,” Ralph told the outlet. “[Odysseus] should look like a bit of old rope.”

Barely Clothed

Ralph also admitted to feeling pressure to tone up his body for the film because he knew that he wouldn’t be wearing much clothing in The Return. “I knew from the script that my body would be exposed,” he explained on the British talk show Lorraine in April 2025. “I [only wore] a blanket and a loincloth.”

Fans React

After a fan page shared photos of Ralph showing off his shirtless, muscular body on X in April 2025, the images quickly went viral and earned countless comments from social media users.

“Voldemort should have just challenged Harry to an arm wrestling match,” one fan joked, while another user wrote, “Lord Voldemort is ripped and ready for a rematch with Harry Potter.”

“Awesome gains!! Congratulations sir and thanks for inspiring us. If you can, so can we all,” a third fan commented.
