The Jersey Shore crew is reuniting for Jersey Shore Family Vacation on April 5, but not all of the original cast members will be participating in the fist-pumping. Unfortunately, Sammi "Sweetheart" Giancola will not be appearing on the reunion series — which has already been renewed for a second season before the first episode has even aired.

So, why isn't Sammi Sweetheart returning to Jersey Shore?

Sammi addressed the rumors in a lengthy Instagram post after weeks of speculation. In her post, she references the need to avoid "toxic" situations, leading fans to believe she's referring to ex-boyfriend and former Jersey Shore co-star, Ronnie Ortiz-Magro. The two had a tumultuous, on-again, off-again relationship that spanned nearly the entire six seasons of the original MTV show.

Before Sammi addressed the news, her cast members weighed in on the speculation. "She was just not into it. She was just over it. She really didn't want to come back into the house and possibly have another toxic situation like in the past. And she's really happy. She didn't want to go backwards," co-star Deena Cortese recently told E! News.

Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi also spoke out about Sammi's decision during an episode of her podcast, It's Happening with Snooki & Joey. "Everyone's asking why Sammi's not doing it. You have to ask her that — I'm not gonna speak for her. But Sammi is just in such a happy place that I feel like she doesn't want to jump back into that drama if it does happen."

Thankfully the 31-year-old has moved on with — no, not Arvin — new boyfriend, Christian Biscardi and from the looks of her social media, she seems ready to settle down with him. "I’m my best when I’m with you," she wrote in a caption on Instagram alongside of photo of the couple holding one another.

And her Jersey Shore fam approves of her new man, too! "We've met him and he is such a sweet guy," Jenni "JWoww" Farley previously told Life & Style. "He makes Sammi happy, so he’s good in my book."

Ronnie has also moved on from his rocky relationship with Sam, and is currently expecting his first child with girlfriend, Jen Harley. "Thank you to everyone who has been supportive with advice & encouragement. People keep saying becoming a parent is the part of life. I’ve been blessed enough to have SOO MANY best parts of my life," he wrote on Instagram in December.

The Seaside crew hits the small screen on April 5 at 8 p.m. on MTV and Sammi's decision not to return to the show that made her a household name will definitely change the dynamic of the new series. Snooki acknowledged that she "begged" the brunette beauty to reconsider joining the cast and admitted he show will be "different" without her.

JWoww also expressed similar feelings when chatting with Life & Style earlier this year. "In my head and in my dreams, Sammi is there with us by our side."
