It’s back! The Voice Season 15 premiered on Monday night, Sept. 24, and it’s already off to a great start. The first contestant to give a blind audition was 15-year-old Sarah Grace from Houston, Texas. Sarah Grace auditioned for The Voice with a cover of Janis Joplin’s “Ball and Chain,” and it blew the judges away. Kelly Clarkson, Blake Shelton, and Jennifer Hudson all turned their chairs hoping to add the singer to their teams, but it was ultimately Kelly whom Sarah Grace decided to go with!

“My favorite part was you had stank face for days,” Kelly told Sarah right after the performance. The American Idol powerhouse also reminded everyone that she won the voice last year with a 15-year-old contestant — so obviously she’s had success with coaching a young artist in the past.

When the coaches asked Sarah what kind of album she’d like to make, she told them, “A blues, rock root album, pulling from Etta James and Janice Joplin,” to which Jennifer replied, “You seem to know who you are, what you want to do… It’s amazing.”

So, what else do we know about The Voice‘s newest contestant? Well, she shared that she just got her permit (yay!), is super into the blues (even though she first thought the music genre was just for old people!), and she was born with synesthesia. Synesthesia, as Sarah Grace explained, is when your senses are cross wired — meaning when she hears music, she sees certain colors. “I love seeing the colors that come with music and I want to make my own,” she shared.

In addition to all of that, Sarah is also the star of a three-person band, Sarah Grace and The Soul. She plays the piano and trumpet, so she’s musically talented all around!

You can watch Sarah Grace’s full audition on The Voice in the video below, and be sure to follow her journey on #TeamKellyClarkson every Monday and Tuesday night at 8:00 p.m. on NBC.
