Forget All That Orlando Bloom Drama — Katy Perry Is on Team Selena Gomez!

Putting the past behind them! Selena Gomez has received an outpouring of compassion, empathy, and love after revealing that her battle with lupus ultimately led to her getting a kidney transplant over the summer. While celebrities and fans alike have been heralding Selena for her heart and courage, one person’s comment in particular stood out like a firework.

We’re talking about Katy Perry, of course. The Grammy award winner commented on 25-year-old Selena’s photo of her in the hospital, holding hands with her kidney donor Francia Rasia. “Love your heart and authenticity,” Katy, 32, wrote.

For Selenators and Katycats alike, this feels like a huge milestone. For over a year, it’s been rumored that Katy and Selena were famously at war over actor Orlando Bloom, 40. Katy started dating Miranda Kerr‘s ex-husband in January 2016, made it Instagram-official in May, and then by that same November, the couple had split. As of September 2017, the couple is back on and was recently spotted vacationing in Santa Barbara over Labor Day Weekend.

While Orlando and Selena go way back, first being linked together in 2014 when they were spotted outside a comedy club, their friendship became a sore spot in Orlando’s later relationship with Katy when him and Selena were caught getting cozy in a Las Vegas nightclub. Following Selena’s Vegas concert, onlookers saw Sel and Orlando showing PDA on May 7, 2016. Photos of the alleged PDA surfaced online, to which Katy responded on Twitter by referencing the Peggy Lee lyrics, “Is that all there is?”

A source told Us Weekly at the time that Orlando was to blame. “Selena was just trying to have a good time with friends, but Orlando was all over her. He kept pulling her close to him,” the source said.

Another insider confirmed, “Selena likes Orlando as a friend and is not trying to get between him and Katy.” The unlikely Selena-Orlando relationship spurned, seemingly out of spite, after Orlando and Justin Bieber had it out in a bar in Ibiza, Spain — a dispute that was allegedly over Orlando’s ex-wife, Miranda Kerr, whom Justin was rumored to be dating.

What came of the scandal were reports that Katy and Selena were feuding — amplified of course, by the fact that Selena Gomez was Taylor Swift’s best friend, with whom Katy wasn’t exactly on good terms with. Selena also appeared in Taylor’s “Bad Blood” video, a revenge anthem penned by Taylor exclusively about her fallout with Katy.
