Blonde ambition! Selena Gomez hit the red carpet at the 2017 American Music Awards in LA on Sunday, Nov. 19, looking hotter than ever with bright, platinum hair styled in a short, messy lob. The 25-year-old pop star paired her sexy new ‘do with an equally sizzling ensemble: a black leather mini dress paired with matching sky-high heels.

Hours before stepping out on the AMAs carpet, Selena took to Instagram to get her fans pumped about her appearance at tonight’s show — and the first-ever live performance of her latest single, “Wolves.” “TodayIsTheDay,” she wrote alongside a video of herself still rocking dark strands and blunt bangs.

We’re not sure when the Disney Channel alum made her dramatic hair transformation, but we’re so glad she decided to switch up her look — and, of course, so are her legions of supportive Selenators. It wasn’t long before fans shared their enthusiastic reactions via social media. “I am living for blonde Selena Gomez! OMG!!! She’s the most stunning human!” one tweeter enthused, while another wrote, “Blonde Selena is an angel! SO. PRETTY.”

Some of Selena’s fans were even inspired to go blonde themselves. “Ok was thinking about going blonde for the longest time but Selena has convinced me!” one revealed. Added another, “Tbh I was always scared of going blonde but Selena Gomez is really making me wanna do it.”

Though the natural brunette likely had to use a lot of hair color (aka, chemicals) to get her locks so light — unless she wore a wig — fans can rest assured that Selena is definitely doing all she can to make sure her mane remains strong and healthy…even if she doesn’t like washing it all that much. During a May 2016 interview with Allure, she revealed her weekly hair habits.

“I don’t wash my hair everyday, which may sound gross, but it’s actually really bad for my hair. Some of my best friends actually can’t go more than maybe two days without washing their hair, and for me, I give my mom and my dad all the credit, because I have thick hair, so it gets better the less I wash it,” she told the magazine at the time. “By the third day, my hair actually holds pretty well. It just holds curls better, and it holds product better. It’s so strange, but it actually works. I just use a little dry shampoo, and I tease it to keep the volume up. Usually by day four is when I have to absolutely wash it.”
