Actress Selena Gomez is the most followed person on Instagram, with over 129 million followers. The magnitude of that number is literally unfathomable. Everything she posts reaches an obscene amount of people, which in turn, makes her photos some of the most liked on the Internet. So, what happens if a person like Selena tags you on the platform? Your Instagram account will literally explode. Well, not literally. But your notifications and followers will go through the roof.

How do we know all of this? Elle Fanning chatted with Vanity Fair about what went down when Selena posted her picture and tagged her account on Instagram. The pair is set to star in an untitled Woody Allen film together, but at the time of the post, they hadn't even met. Elle said, "I woke up the next morning [thinking] like, ‘What happened to my Instagram?’ It was exploding with things. People were saying things and this photo kept popping up. I guess that’s what happens when someone has like a billion followers, posts your face, and tags you. It was insane!"

So, what was the photo in question? Look above. The simple yet classic pic shows Elle balancing a few books on her head. Selena didn't even write a caption, but it still got over two million likes.

Elle said Selena actually ended apologized to her once they did meet. "She was like, ‘I’m sorry I creepily posted the photo.’ I said, ‘No! Keep doing it!’ I’m getting more [followers]," the blonde beauty recalled. Clearly, Elle was flattered, but to be honest, who wouldn't be? There's no telling how many more followers she got or when the notifications seemingly subsided. As of right now, the Maleficent star has over 1.7 million followers.
