Singer D4vd Named as Suspect in Celeste Rivas Hernandez’s Death 2 Months After Her Body Was Found
Singer D4vd has been named as a suspect in the death of 15-year-old girl Celeste Rivas Hernandez two months after her deceased body was found in a car registered to him.
D4vd, 20, has not been charged with any crime, a Los Angeles Police Department source with direct knowledge of the investigation told NBC Los Angeles on Tuesday, November 18. Additionally, the police source said he has not been cooperative.
While Hernandez’s body was found on September 8, it’s believed that she likely died in the spring. The source added that D4vd possibly helped dismember and dispose of her body.
Hernandez’s remains were found in the trunk of a Tesla at a Los Angeles impound lot, police previously confirmed. The Tesla was towed after it had been parked for several weeks, while police said on September 29 that “Ms. Rivas Hernandez may have been deceased for several weeks before the discovery of her body.”

Before her body was found, Hernandez was reported missing from Lake Elsinore, California, after she had last been seen on April 5, 2024, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.
After it was revealed that the car was registered to D4vd, a spokesperson for the “Romantic Homicide” singer said in September that he was “fully cooperating with authorities.”
D4vd – whose real name is David Anthony Burke – has since stepped out of the spotlight amid the scandal, and he canceled the rest of his U.S tour in September amid the investigation.
Additionally, the Los Angeles Times previously reported that authorities raided D4v’ds home amid the investigation on September 17.
The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Department said that the cause and manner of Hernandez’s death were still “deferred” as of November 18. The update implies that a determination is pending further investigation, while the manner of someone’s death will include whether or not the incident is considered a homicide.

Hernandez’s family spoke out in a GoFundMe page shared on September 17, in which they explained they were seeking donations to help pay to lay Rivas.
“As many of you know, Celeste Rivas Hernandez has been identified as the body found last week. She was a beloved daughter, sister, cousin, and friend. Her family is heartbroken and devastated by this tragic loss. They are seeking help to lay her body to rest. Any funds you are able to donate are greatly appreciated,” the Rivas Hernandez family wrote on the post.
D4vd rose to fame following the success of his 2022 songs “Here with Me” and “Romantic Homicide,” which went viral on TikTok. He later signed with Darkroom and Interscope Records and released two extended plays, Petals to Thorns and The Lost Petals, in 2023. He dropped his debut album, Withered, in April 2025.
