Taylor Swift’s Longtime Band Member Amos Heller Shares BTS Highs and Lows From Eras Tour

Taylor Swift’s longtime bass player, Amos Heller, looked back at the highs and lows of the Eras tour just two days after the groundbreaking tour came to an end.

“It’s done. No more early lobby calls. No more airports. No more lugging a suitcase and Mono bag up an escalator, through a line, out of baggage claim. No more warming up, no more cooling down. No more looking at my watch 20 times to make sure I don’t miss a call. No more saying goodbye to my family, no more ‘how many sleeps now?’ No more jet lag,” Amos, 47, began in a lengthy caption alongside photos from the tour posted via Instagram on Tuesday, December 10.

He then added that there were positive things he will miss about the experience, including “no more slipping into new languages, cultures, cuisines, accented pleasantries.” Amos continued, “No more snow in Tokyo, watch factories in Switzerland, museums in Sweden, bass shops in Australia, steaks in Rio, tattoos in Ireland, runs in Germany, flowers in Amsterdam.”

“No more walking into a ringing stadium feeling like a gladiator. No more screaming lyrics with a perfect stranger who’s now your best friend. No more Stage Right Obstructeds (my people). No more staring in awe at my family/friends who just moments ago were sharing a ridiculous joke, suddenly transformed into iconic titans, towering and thriving in the blinding lights,” the bass player wrote. “No more being called upon to dig the deepest I can, requiring the very best I am capable of.”

After reflecting on the “completed work,” Amos said that the “record books are closed with fresh ink on a lot of pages.”

“I’ve emerged changed. As a player, performer, person, partner. Backstage after the final curtain I let myself sink to my knees for a bit, before laying on the floor gently reminiscing with [backup dancer Tori Evans]. Spent. We lived a lifetime,” he wrote, reflecting on their final show after 149 tour stops. “If you think it felt like graduation, it did.”

Amos gushed that he felt “so much love and gratitude to be a part of this community,” which he’s “been privileged to watch grow into so much more than a collective of people who like the same songs.” He added, “The shooting stars I shared the stage with, a lifelong fellowship.”

The musician then wrapped up the message by directly speaking to Taylor, 34, whom he has been touring with since 2007. “You command so much respect and admiration from everyone who’s fortunate enough to add their effort to yours,” he wrote. “Your blend of focus, heart, stamina and joy calls forth the best of everyone around you. Thank you for trusting me with my part of your vision. It was the ride of a lifetime. I love you.”

Amos concluded the message by writing, “Long live,” which is one of Taylor’s beloved songs from her Speak Now album and was included during the surprise song section during the final Eras tour show in Vancouver on December 8.

While Taylor has not yet penned a social media post about the tour, she made several references to the tour coming to an end during the final show.

“This tour has been the adventure of a lifetime,” she told the crowd following her performance of “Champagne Problems.” “I speak on behalf of my band … my fellow performers who all left their families and have spent time away from everything that they know and love and have performed when they were sick. When anything was going on in their lives, they made sure that this show come through [for] you and I just wanted to say that on behalf of all of us, we will never forget you giving us that moment. Thank you, Vancouver.”
