The season premiere of ABC’s The Bachelor re-introduced franchise villain-turned-heartthrob Nick Viall to Bachelor Nation. Producers made a controversial decision when they chose Nick as the next suitor over Bachelorette JoJo Fletcher’s eliminated contestants, and he's setting out to not only redeem himself, but to give love another shot!
Needless to say, the 36-year-old doesn’t wait too long to take his shirt off — in his intro scene, he’s seen working out, undressing, and showering — but it’s the scenes he filmed with his family that will resonate with fans. The most adorable moment comes when Nick’s youngest sister Bella gives her big bro some much-needed tips for when he's out on a date, like “don’t mumble.”
Just hours before Nick’s first-ever cocktail party, he meets up with former franchise stars Sean Lowe, Chris Soules, and Ben Higgins. Over a drink, the guys advise Nick to be himself and to trust his instincts when it comes to handing out his final rose.

Nick’s 30 ladies each get their chance to greet the hunk, but a few entrances stood out. Josephine — a 24-year-old registered nurse from California — presents Nick with a hollow book that holds a hot dog, telling him he’s a “wiener” in her book. Lacey — a 25-year-old digital marketing manager from New York — rides up to the mansion on a camel, and 23-year-old aspiring dolphin trainer Alexis from New Jersey shows up wearing a shark costume — which turns out to be less of a fashion faux pas than you may think.
There’s also no shortage of drama, whether it’s from 29-year-old Las Vegas doula Elizabeth, or “Liz,” who has a history with Nick — she quickly reveals that they spent the night together after meeting at Bachelor in Paradise stars Jade Roper and Tanner Tolbert’s wedding — or 24-year-old business woman Corinne, who cuts off one of her fellow contestants to steal Nick away for the first kiss of the night.

But Rachel, a 31-year-old attorney from Texas, makes history as the first black woman to snag the first impression rose. She gladly accepts and the two share a passionate kiss.
