Who Robbed the Hotel Jewelry Store in ‘The White Lotus’ Season 3? Fan Theories and Speculation

One of the first big signs of danger in season 3 of The White Lotus came in episode 2, when the hotel’s store in Thailand was robbed by a masked gunman. Life & Style looks at fan theories about who was behind the robbery and what impact it might have on how the season ends.

Did Valentin Help the Robbers Make It Past Security?

One thing viewers picked up immediately was how the resort’s health mentor, Valentin, played by Arnas Fedaravičius, stopped his motorcycle at the security gate exit and engaged hapless guard Gaitok (Tayme Thapthimthong) in a lengthy chat.

With the gate still up as Valentin had Gaitok’s attention, a black van drove past and onto the property. Viewers then saw a masked gunman enter the hotel’s boutique, pointing his gun at the clerk and hotel guest Chelsea (Aimee Lou Wood). He then proceeded to smash the jewelry cases, making off with expensive watches and other items including the gold snake choker Chelsea had been eyeing.

While Gaitok attempted to stop the thieves on their way out, one of them hit him over the head with a gun, nearly knocking him out.

“Valentin was definitely involved in that robbery. Obvious distraction at the guard gate. The bodyguards are most likely involved,” one fan wrote via X during the February 23, 2025, episode, referring to hotel owner Sritala Hollinger’s burly bodyguards.

“Valentin was clearly involved in the robbery, you could tell when he distracted Gaitok with the fight and the tickets. Plus, those guys looked a lot like the bodyguards who were talking to Mook,” another fan noted on X.

In episode 5, Valentin had two friends from his native Russia join him on a night out, and fans later speculated the pair could have been the gunmen behind the robbery instead of Sritala’s bodyguards.

“Wait a sec … Valentin has two friends and there were two robbers on the White Lotus while Valentin was the one distracting Gaitok when it happened. They’re the ones behind the robbery aren’t they?” a fan asked on X on March 13.

Fans Think Mook Is Somehow Involved in the Robbery

Lisa Manobal‘s Mook has been eyed as a possible bad girl, as her sweet health mentor demeanor seems to have a mysterious darker side. She was shown talking to Sritala’s bodyguards, whom some fans suspected of pulling off the robbery.

“Those guys looked a lot like the bodyguards who were talking to Mook. For some reason, I feel like Mook is a snake and might be in on it too,” a viewer commented on X.

“I love Mook but 100 percent I know [White Lotus creator/writer] Mike White wrote her as the villain and she is involved with the robbery,” a second fan added, while a third agreed, writing on X, “I wish they released all the White Lotus episodes at once to binge. But one thing I know for sure is that Mook was part of that robbery.”

Did Greg and Chloe Mastermind the Robbery?

Chelsea ended up in the middle of the boutique robbery after joining her new pal Chloe on a shopping spree. The former model was given her much-older boyfriend Gary’s credit card, and disappeared into a changing room prior to the robbery and missed the entire crime going down.

Later in the episode, “Gary” turned out to be Tanya McQuoid’s husband, Greg, who was introduced in The White Lotus season 1. Many fans believe Greg was behind the plot to murder wealthy heiress Tanya in season 2 of The White Lotus, although she ultimately died while escaping her attempted killers.

“Greg had Chloe and the Russian bros do the robbery,” a fan claimed on X about his involvement in the hotel heist. Greg later told Walton Goggins‘ Rick Hatchett over dinner that he did “this and that” for work behind his lavish lifestyle.

Other fans noted how Chloe was in the dressing room prior to the robbery and could have texted Greg to let him know the coast was clear and there was no security at the store, allowing him or his thieves smooth sailing for the robbery.

What Happened as a Result of ‘The White Lotus’ Hotel Robbery

Gaitok was given a gun following the robbery in an attempt to ramp up security after the crime went down on his watch. However, he got distracted while eyeing the weapon after Mook showed up in her traditional Thai outfit before performing for guests, and he left it on the desk while accompanying her to the show.

Jason Isaacs‘ Timothy Ratliff noticed the gun after having a devastating phone call with his lawyer where he found out his assets had been seized by federal investigators. The investor took the gun and later used it in a suicide attempt, although the weapon failed. Timothy proceeded to hide the gun in his bungalow, but Gaitok broke in and found it after discovering who took it via CCTV tape.

The season opened with gunfire erupting at the White Lotus Thailand and fans later suspected Gaitok’s gun may play a key part in the chaos, which is likely to go down on the season finale.
