Grab the Tissues‘This Is Us’ Producers Reveal Plans to Stop the Show After Season 6
We’re not crying, you’re crying! This Is Us is one of the most popular television shows of the moment because of its captivating storyline, lovable characters and ability to make us cry every episode. However, it sounds like the show’s producers have a pretty clear stopping point and co-showrunner Isaac Aptaker revealed the surprising details.
Fans can possibly expect the series finale to come in “about three seasons,” he told Deadline. “I would hope that it’s elegant. That’s what we’re going for.”
Don’t worry, they don’t want to leave any viewers hanging. He elaborated, “I would hope that when we reach our ending, people think it’s a really satisfying end place, that makes sense, and it feels like they’ve watched something that is a complete piece of work because that’s really how we’re trying to plan it. Almost like you would a book or a super-long movie.”
It turns out, they’ve known for a while how they want to close the show. “We’ve had this end in mind for a long time, so we’re able to plan for it and try to make it feel like it’s a whole, as opposed to a series that’s going to go endlessly,” he admitted.
Show creator and fellow showrunner Dan Fogelman confirmed in the same interview that the iconic drama is planned out pretty far in advance. “We’ve got multiple seasons mapped out … I think this season has been a lot about redemption, but also a lot of rebirth. Next season is a season of new beginnings and restarts,” he said.
The series stars Milo Ventimiglia (Jack Pearson), Mandy Moore (Rebecca Pearson), Justin Hartley (Kevin Pearson), Chrissy Metz (Kate Pearson), Sterling K. Brown (Randall Pearson) and Susan Kelechi Watson (Beth Pearson). One thing is for sure, Tuesday nights will not be the same when it goes off the air.
