‘This Is Us’ Fans Shouldn’t Stop Rooting For Kevin and Sophie Just Yet

If you’re a This Is Us fan then you’ve witnessed the heart-wrenching drama between Sophie and Kevin. Alexandra Breckenridge, who plays Kevin’s ex-wife, brings emotion to the relationship that ultimately crashed-and-burned due to Justin Hartley’s character’s drug problem. Although many fans were rooting for the onscreen couple to overcome their issues — in the end, Kev’s drug-problem led to his relationship’s demise.

In the most recent episode — “Vegas Baby” — it looked like Kevin might have found a new romantic interest. “Nooo…Sophie and Kevin need to find their way back to each other and get their fairytale happily ever after ending,” one fan tweeted in response to Kevin flirting with a new woman. Alexandra is currently on maternity leave after welcoming her second child — so, hope that the couple will reunite isn’t totally lost. Another viewer tweeted, “But must say I miss Sophie… and Kevin. Hoping we’ll see her again.”

The 35-year-old actress revealed to Us Weekly that she feared losing her job after learning she was pregnant again. “I was like, ‘I’m gonna get fired,'” she admitted in November. “I was scared to tell them because I thought it would cause issues for production. Thankfully, after speaking to creator Dan Fogelman, she realized her worries were unfounded. “I called Dan and said, ‘I’m sorry. I’m pregnant,’ He was just like, ‘Oh, that’s amazing! Congratulations!’ He’s so nice.”

She gave birth to daughter Billie in December with husband Casey Neil Hooper. The couple is already parents to their 17-month-old son, Jack, “We are so excited to have a boy and a girl!” she told People. “Billie is such a sweet baby girl and Jack is such a social boy, with them only being 15 months apart they will always have a friend to play with.”

Since Alexandra was upped to a series regular for Season 2 — there’s a good chance her storyline with Kevin isn’t over yet. For Sophie/Kevin fans, there’s still reason to believe a reconciliation is possible.

“Kevin and Sophie, they’ve loved each other since they were kids,” she told Cosmopolitan. “They’ve been off and on since they were children. I think that eventually, it’s gonna work out for them, or at least I hope it does. I think they have a bond that’s kind of unbreakable.”
