Tom Hiddleston and Zawe Ashton Quietly Welcome Baby No. 2
Tom Hiddleston and Zawe Ashton are officially a family of four.
The Marvel star confirmed that he and his wife quietly welcomed their second child together in a profile with GQ, published on December 30. While Tom, 44, did not reveal the baby’s name or sex, he shared that the birth happened shortly before his sister also welcomed a child — making it a particularly meaningful time for their family.
Reflecting on the moment, the Loki actor described birth as the “most beautiful, profound, earth-shattering, life-altering” experience.
Tom and Zawe, 40, welcomed their first child in 2022 and have largely kept their growing family out of the public eye, including choosing not to share the name of their eldest. Still, the couple has occasionally offered glimpses into their life together — especially when celebrating each other’s milestones.
The pair publicly announced Zawe’s second pregnancy earlier this year ahead of the SXSW London premiere of Tom’s film The Life of Chuck on June 7. For the red carpet appearance, Zawe debuted her baby bump in a light-blue ruffled gown designed by Emilia Wickstead.
“I feel really lucky to be working with someone that I know and who’s been such a champion of me at this sensitive red-carpet dressing moment,” the actress told Vogue at the time. “I feel like I’ll be very held on an evening where, as an expectant mother, you can feel a little bit exposed.”
Though they tend to keep their personal lives private, Tom has never shied away from praising his wife publicly. During his acceptance speech at the 2024 People’s Choice Awards, the Night Manager star made sure to acknowledge Zawe’s support.
“Zawe, none of this makes sense without you,” he said. “Thank you for your love and support every step of the way.”
The admiration clearly goes both ways. When Zawe joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Dar-Benn in The Marvels, Tom couldn’t hide his pride. “My other half is in The Marvels,” he said while appearing on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon in November 2023, “and I’m very proud of her.”
Zawe later revealed that Tom offered valuable advice ahead of her Marvel debut.
“One of the main takeaways from our conversations was: ‘What you put into Marvel, you get back,’” she told Entertainment Weekly in 2023. “He said, ‘If you go into this with an open heart and a great work ethic and just want to provide an amazing experience for the fans, you’ll have an amazing experience on those sets. He really empowered me in that way.”
