SwoonOscars Director Glenn Weiss Pulls Off The Most Romantic Proposal To His Girlfriend At The Emmys

What a proposal! Glenn Weiss popped the question to the woman of his dreams at the Emmys on Sept. 17, after winning Outstanding Directing for a Variety Special for the 2018 Oscars. Grab your tissues because this magical moment will melt your heart.

“I’m really grateful to be here, but it’s bittersweet,” he began his emotional speech. “The person most proud at this moment would be my mom and she passed away just two weeks ago. Part of my heart is broken, I don’t think it will ever be repaired, but she’s in me and always will be. Mom always believed in finding the sunshine in things, and she adored my girlfriend. Jan [Svendsen], you are the sunshine in my life and mom was right: don’t ever let go of your sunshine.”

“You wonder why I don’t like to call you my girlfriend? Because I want to call you my wife,” Glenn said and the audience erupted in applause. Several celebs were rising to their feet and cheering for him. “I didn’t ask yet,” Glenn joked. “This is the ring my dad put on my mom’s finger 67 years ago. And to my sisters and brothers, I didn’t swipe it. Dad knows I have it OK.”

“Jan, I want to put this ring that my mom wore on your finger if front of all these people, and in front of my mom and your parents watching from above. Will you marry me?” Glenn concluded, before getting down on one knee. Jan was breaking down in tears and was over the moon with excitement. She nodded yes and they passionately kissed for the world to see!
