What happened to Babs from My Big Fat Fabulous Life?

Whitney Thore made the heartbreaking discovery that her mother, Barbara “Babs” Thore suffered a stroke during last night’s episode of her TLC reality series. The body positivity activist has an extremely close relationship with her parents — especially her mother — so she was understandably distraught over her mother’s health scare.

During this week’s episode, Whitney’s father Glenn Thore was supposed to meet her at her house to oversee a renovation project — but she started to worry when her dad didn’t show up and wasn’t answering her calls. She decided to drive over to her parent’s house and quickly realized that his car wasn’t in the driveway — and that’s when she started to panic.

“I just know that something’s wrong,” the 32-year-old said in her confessional. “I’m starting to feel a sense of dread, like I have a feeling in the pit of my stomach that something’s just wrong.”

In January, Whitney revealed in a blog post that her mother suffered a stroke and also had a few seizures, and she opened up about what it was like to go through such a scary experience.

“This is undoubtedly the most traumatic thing my family has ever experienced but if anyone possesses the strength to make it through, we know it's Mom!” she wrote. “If Babs has ever made you laugh, or cry, or cry from laughing, please keep her in your thoughts.”

Following her health scare, Babs had to stay in the hospital for a few days — but she was released just in time to attend the premiere party for Season 4 of her daughter’s TV show. Whitney’s mom looked happy and healthy at the party — and the adorable mommy-daughter duo wore matching outfits to celebrate.

“Mom and I are twinning,” Whitney wrote in the caption on Instagram.
