White Lotus’ Carrie Coon Reflects on Viral Sprinting Scene in Season 3 Finale: ‘F–king Run’
Carrie Coon is going viral for the moment she showed her speed and sprinted during the White Lotus season 3 finale, and the actress credits her hometown to her running abilities in the shootout scene.
“There wasn’t direction. I knew the gunshot was going to happen, and we were going to run into the bushes, essentially,” Carrie, 44, who portrayed Laurie in the hit HBO series, told Variety on Monday, April 7. “Look, I’m an American and I’m a New Yorker, and if you think I don’t know where the exits are in any building I’m in, then you’re not paying attention to the news.”
While filming the scene when Rick (Walton Goggins) fired a shot at Jim (Scott Glenn), Carrie thought, “‘What would a person do?’ A person would f–king run, would book it, and I’m fast.
I’m not as fast as I used to be!”
During the scene, Carrie booked it across a dock after onscreen character Sritala’s (Lek Patravadi) husband, Jim, was shot by Rick. While the rest of the group was in shock and witnessing the crime, Carrie had already turned around in the opposite direction and sprinted away.
HBO Max shared a clip of the moment via TikTok on Monday, April 7, writing, “She’s been training for a whole week.”
“My girl Laurie ran like a true New Yorker here. She saw a gun and bullets flying, you don’t have to tell her twice,” a fan wrote in the comment section of the post.
A second person added, “I didn’t see her run in the episode cause she was too fast bruh.”

Carrie opened up about the season 3 finale, when [spoilers here] dies, and shared she wasn’t aware of how the ending would play out.
“I just know what I was in, and I’d forgotten. I had intentionally, really, kept a loose grip on the other storylines so I could enjoy the show as a fan,” the Gilded Age actress told Variety. “So, I kind of forgot what happened. And we all had stuff that was cut, so I knew also some of the material that just didn’t make it in for storytelling reasons, too, that had to do with the ending. So, it’s always hard to lose those things.”
White Lotus creator Mike White had the cast shoot an arrangement of potential season 3 finale options. Once the filmmaker, 54, decided which ending made the final cut, he kept the information to himself and away from the cast.
“We watched it all together last night, Mike wouldn’t show it to anybody beforehand,” Jason Isaacs, who played Timothy Ratliff, told Deadline the morning after the finale aired on April 6. “It was a very strange night for all of us because not only were we watching the show, which we’re all fans of, although we’re in it, we’re also essentially saying goodbye and getting some closure on what’s been a year and a half long adventure.”
