Who Are Luke Combs’ Parents Rhonda and Chester? Meet the Country Singer’s Mom and Dad
Luke Combs is a country superstar with a good head on his shoulders, and it’s all thanks to his parents, Rhonda and Chester Combs. The family matriarch can even be credited as the person who helped kickstart the “Hurricane” singer’s successful music career.
“I was working a job at a go-cart place in Asheville, where I worked in high school,” Luke said during a 2020 appearance on the Today show. “I’d just go to work, go home. I was sitting there like, ‘Man, I don’t have anything to do.’ My mom was like, ‘Well, you know Kenny Chesney, he didn’t learn to play guitar until he was 21.’ I was 21 at the time. I was like, ‘Oh, if that guy can do it, then I can do it.'”
Where Do Luke Combs’ Parents Live?
Rhonda and Chester moved from Huntersville to Asheville, North Carolina, when Luke was 8 years old. The couple still lives in the family home that the “Kind of Love We Make” singer grew up in. In 2022, Luke shared that he paid off the remainder of his parents’ mortgage after earning his first major paycheck after kicking off his music career.
“I remember calling my parents and being like, ‘I’m paying your house off.’ And they were like, ‘What? You can’t. No. Don’t do that.’ And I was like, ‘No. I’m doing it. That’s what I’m doing.’ So I bought myself a truck and I pay my parent’s house off first thing away,” Luke told Apple Music’s Zane Lowe at the time. “It was the first thing I did, man. I mean, had to. Had to because you realize how hard … I mean, we didn’t have a lot of money, man. We did not. My parents were really good at making it seem like we were doing fine. And we were doing fine. I had everything I needed and not a lot of what I wanted. I’ll put it that way.”
Luke Combs’ Parents Are Retired
The Grammy-nominated artist’s generosity runs deep, and he even helped kickstart their retirement early. During an interview with CMT, Luke explained that his decision stemmed from wanting to spend quality time with his parents without them having to feel the pressures of work.
“My mom retired literally two weeks ago,” he told the outlet in 2021. “So, watching that happen has been not only a joy for me, but a great way for them to have the financial freedom and the ability to come out and experience some of these awesome things that I get to do, right by my side. Which I wouldn’t trade it for anything.”
Luke Combs Shares Which Traits He Gets From Each Parent
Luke previously told Backstage Country that his parents instilled in him a “hard-working attitude” and taught him to roll with the punches.
“You know, they did a great job raising me; I feel like they did. And so I’m just thankful for years of advice and a bunch of love from them as well,” he told the outlet. “I think it’s a little bit of both. I think my mom is a big talker. She loves to talk, be around people, and make people happy. So I got that from her. And then my dad is a big conversationalist.”
