Who Is Serial Killer Frank Athen Walls?
Walls is a serial killer who was convicted of two counts of murder, two counts of kidnapping, burglary and theft. Following his trial, he was sentenced to death in 1988.
According to court records viewed by CBS News, Walls broke into a Florida Panhandle mobile home that was owned by Eglin Air Force Base airman Edward Alger and his girlfriend, Ann Peterson, in July 1987. After he tied up the couple, Alger broke free and attacked Walls. However, Walls managed to cut Alger’s throat and shot him in the head. Walls went on to attack Peterson, who he shot as she struggled to fight him off.

Walls was arrested one day after Alger and Peterson’s bodies were found. Police viewed him as a suspect after his roommate called authorities to report his odd behavior. Investigators then searched his home and linked him to the crime when they found items from the crime scene.
Walls eventually admitted to being the person behind the murders.
Frank Athen Walls Has a History of Murders
Not only was Walls responsible for killing Alger and Peterson, but DNA evidence also linked him to the rape and murder of Audrey Gygi in May 1987, per CBS News.
Walls pleaded no contest to Gygi’s rape and murder, while he also admitted to killing Tommie Lou Whiddon in March 1985 and Cynthia Sue Condra in September 1986 as part of a deal he made with prosecutors.
Frank Athen Walls Is Facing Execution
While Walls initially was given the death sentence, the Florida Supreme Court reversed the conviction and ordered a new trial. In 1992, he was convicted a second time and was sentenced to death again.

More than three decades later, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis signed a death warrant on November 18 to have Walls executed.
When Will Frank Athen Walls Be Executed?
Walls is scheduled to be executed on December 18 at Florida State Prison, per the death warrant. The decision makes Walls the 19th person to be set for execution in Florida in 2025, while two other inmates are also scheduled to be put to death before the end of 2025.
Meanwhile, inmate Richard Barry Randolph is scheduled to be executed on Thursday, November 20 and convicted killer Mark Allen Geralds is expected to receive the lethal injection on December 9.
