When she was a student at the University of Central Florida, Chelsea worked as a model. She went on to become a real estate agent, working for the firm Keller Williams in Atlanta, Georgia, starting in 2013.

As Freddie’s career took off, Chelsea was able to start her own business, The Chelsea Freeman Collection. She launched the online boutique in 2021, and it specializes in “game day clothing and accessories.” Items include T-shirts, sweatshirts, earrings, bracelets and hats, which she models.

The couple met in 2011 when Chelsea was still a student at UCF and Freddie was playing for the Atlanta Braves. She shared a December 11, 2011, photo of the couple kissing to her Instagram page with the caption, “6 month anniversary dinner.” Freddie was drafted by the Braves in 2007 and played his rookie season with the team in 2010. After 15 years with the Braves, the first baseman signed a six-year, $162 million contract with the Dodgers in March 2022.

When Did Freddie Freeman and Wife Chelsea Get Married?

Chelsea announced in January 2014 that Freddie popped the question.

“He makes me smile every single day, he encourages me when I’m down, he still opens my car door, he’s learned to buy me a card and flowers every birthday. I’ve watched him mature into the amazing man he is today. He is the first and only man I have ever loved … 3 years ago he asked me to be his girlfriend. And I’m sure glad he did. I could not imagine life without you and I cannot wait to be your wife!!!” she wrote in an Instagram post next to a series of photos of the lovebirds. The center snapshot showed Freddie getting down on one knee aboard a boat at sunset and proposing to Chelsea.

The couple married in November 2014 at the St. Regis Bal Harbour in Miami, Florida.

Chelsea Freeman Appeared on Reality TV

Prior to her wedding to Freddie, Chelsea shot an episode of TLC’s Say Yes to the Dress. Season 8 was set in Atlanta and saw Chelsea pick out both her wedding gown and her reception dress. The episode aired in February 2015.

In the episode, Freddie gushed over her strapless wedding dress with a mermaid skirt, “It’s so beautiful. It’s just perfect. It fits her amazing. I just love it so much.”

Do Freddie Freeman and Wife Chelsea Have Kids?

The couple share three sons. Chelsea gave birth to baby No. 1, Frederick Charles Freeman II, who’s called Charlie, on September 15, 2016, via an emergency cesarean section.

Following Charlie’s birth, the couple was open about fertility issues in trying to expand their family.

“The hardest part about going through infertility is the emotion,” Chelsea told ESPN in February 2021. “You are so drained because you don’t know why — like, ‘Why isn’t it happening? How is this part of God’s plan?’ You think about those things.”

The couple hired a surrogate to carry their second child and Chelsea found out she was pregnant nine days before the surrogate’s embryo transfer took place. The duo welcomed son Brandon John on December 20, 2020, and Maximus Turner was born on February 14, 2021.

What Is Freddie Freeman and Wife Chelsea’s Son Maximus’ Medical Condition?

Max was diagnosed with Guillain-Barré syndrome after being rushed to the hospital in July 2024. He was suffering from a viral infection and unable to stand or walk without any pain and later went into full body paralysis.

“After many tests, Max is battling a severe case of Guillain-Barré syndrome. A rare neurological condition that is especially rare in children. These have been the hardest and scariest days of our lives. Maximus is such a special boy and he has been fighting SO hard,” Freddie and Chelsea shared in a joint Instagram post on August 1, 2024.

While its exact cause of Guillain-Barré is unknown, two thirds of people with the condition exhibited symptoms of an infection in the weeks before the syndrome presents itself, according to the Mayo Clinic. Most patients make a full recovery.

“A few weeks ago, we were talking about getting Max fitted for leg braces. But he is doing so great that we might be able to bypass them. With the help of lots and lots of PT, Max is getting closer and closer to being his normal rambunctious self. Again, thank you all so much for the prayers and well wishes for our family.” Chelsea wrote alongside a photo of herself and Max on October 10, 2024.
