Who Will Star in the ‘Fire Country’ Spinoff ‘Sheriff Country’? Cast Updates for Upcoming CBS Show

Fans of Fire Country are getting to dive even deeper into the show’s universe with the upcoming spinoff, Sheriff Country. After the spinoff show was revealed, fans are wondering who will be included in the cast of Sheriff Country.

Who Will Star in the ‘Fire Country’ Spinoff ‘Sheriff Country’?

The official cast of Sheriff Country has not yet been announced. However, it’s been confirmed that Morena Baccarin will reprise her role as Sheriff Mickey Fox for the spinoff.

Morena made her Fire Country debut during season 2 when her character attended an awkward family reunion with her step-sister, Sharon Leone (played by Diane Farr), who is Cal Fire’s division chief. It was revealed during season 2 of Fire Country that Mickey’s chaotic upbringing led her to pursue a career in law enforcement. However, not much else is known about her past.

Prior to the spinoff, Mickey returned to Fire Country for season 3 to further establish her character.

“We’re still finding how Mickey comes back into our world, but it has to be organic and tied to Sharon, but tied to a little bit all of our characters and especially Bode [Max Thieriot],” executive producer Tia Napolitano told TV Insider on October 23, 2024. “There will be story purposes for why she’s in our world and what we’re giving her before we officially launch her for Sheriff Country episode 1. So it’s very exciting.”

The spinoff will also likely include appearances from Wes Fox (played by W. Earl Brown). Fans have gotten to see Mickey and Wes’ complicated dynamic on Fire Country, and their relationship will be expanded on during the spinoff.

‘Sheriff Country’ Follows the Success of ‘Fire Country’

The new CBS show was announced in light of the success of Fire Country, which has averaged 8 million viewers per episode and 10 million in live+35 multi-platform viewing.

“We are focused on mass-appeal franchises,” CBS President and CEO George Cheeks said in June 2023, hinting at the show getting a spinoff. “This season’s number one show was Fire Country, which completely lends itself to building out a whole new universe … It became very clear that not only was the show special, it really felt like this could be a great example of us building together a franchise from scratch. And so I’m like, ‘you guys, congratulations, you got your back nine. Now let’s start talking about ideas for new extensions.’ They’ve already come up with some great ones.”
