A Body Language Expert Explains Why Prince Harry And Meghan Markle Are Always Fiddling With Their Wedding Rings
Nervous or what? Some people play with their hair or bite their nails when they’re feeling anxious. However, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry share a very particular habit — they both can’t stop fidgeting with their wedding rings. It usually happens when they’re not together, like while Meghan was on stage at last night’s British Fashion Awards. So, why do Meghan and Harry mess with their wedding rings so much? It’s because of a very sweet reason, according to a body language expert.
“This looks like a self-comfort ritual,” expert Judi James explained to Cosmopolitan. “It allows [Harry] to create a barrier with his arms but by seeking out his wedding ring to touch and play with it suggests he’s missing the back-up and support of his wife here.” So, basically, Harry is always touching his wedding band because he misses his wife. Aw, too sweet.
It looks like the feeling is mutual. While on stage honoring her wedding dress designer from Givenchy, Clare Waight Keller, Meghan kept playing with her wedding ring. She looked stunning in a floor-length, one-shouldered black gown while she presented the Womenswear Designer of the Year Award to her good friend. Even in full glam, it seems like the mom-to-be was missing her hubby a bit while she stood alone on stage.
Members of the royal family can be particular when it comes to that finger. Prince William chooses not to even wear a ring, even though Kate Middleton does. “It was something the couple discussed but Prince William isn’t one for jewelry — he doesn’t even wear a signet ring — and decided he didn’t want to. It really is just down to personal preference,” a Kensington Palace aide revealed.
On the other hand (pun intended), Kate seems pretty happy with her diamond and sapphire ring that was formerly worn by Princess Diana, and we don’t blame her.
Whenever you see Harry or Meghan touch their ring, just know they’re probably thinking about each other. Aw, you guys!
