Celine Dion and husband René Angélil were thrilled in August when their fertility doctor announced that their in vitro fertilization procedure had worked and Celine was pregnant with a second child. But sadly, the good news was premature.
"Dr. Zev Rosenwaks believed the pregnancy took, but that wasn't the case as we found out some days later," says René. "We were shocked. We are living the reality of the majority of couples who have to use [IVF]: The process can be long and arduous."
The couple, who conceived their son, René-Charles, now 8, through IVF, are not giving up. After finding out the procedure was unsuccessful, René, 67, says the pair tried again in October and were heading back to the Ronald O. Perelman and Claudia Cohen Center for Reproductive Medicine in NYC for another round. "You know Celine, she doesn't let go," René says about their ongoing efforts to get pregnant. "She is more determined than ever. Since April, Celine has undergone numerous examinations, multiple hormone injections and blood tests. We are full of confidence."
