As far as anniversary gifts go, this one sets the bar pretty high. On Jan. 6, Josh Duhamel treated wife Fergie to the ultimate romantic surprise, whisking her by private helicopter from LA to Santa Barbara, Calif. There, a limo transported the couple to the Bacara Resort & Spa about 20 minutes away -- for a private ceremony to renew their wedding vows. It was a far cry from their actual nuptials, held on Jan. 10, 2009, in front of hundreds of guests in Malibu. This time, only a minister was present as the couple renewed their love at sunset while standing on a bluff overlooking the ocean. Fergie, 34, was so moved, she was reportedly in tears.
Afterward, the couple dined at the resort's restaurant, Miro, before it opened for the night so they could have the entire place to themselves. Then they headed back to the copter for the flight home. "She's the best thing that's ever happened to me," Josh, 37, later told Entertainment Tonight, adding that they want to do it every year.
Trouble behind them
The idyllic ceremony capped a turbulent first year of marriage. In October, stripper Nicole Forrester claimed she and Josh had an affair while he was in Atlanta shooting Life As We Know It. Josh denied the story, and Fergie stood by her husband throughout the ordeal.
The second wedding shows they've put the cheating accusations behind them and are focusing on their future together. "It's a new year," notes an insider close to them. "They're madly in love and starting from a good place this year. Getting married again was proof they still love each other and want to make it work. This is a priority for both of them."
