’90 Day Fiancé’ Star Jon Walters Is Planning to Shave Off His Beard for a Good Cause!

Earlier this week, Jon took to Instagram to share a photo of his very bushy beard, and he shared more information with fans about his campaign.

“My glorious beard is raising money for Little Warrior — #shave or #save @lennon__allyouneedislove who has Systemic Mastocytosis,” he wrote in the caption. “Donate today, then vote in the comment section of her [GoFundMe].

Jon exclusively opened up to Life & Style about how he first learned about little Lennon’s health battle.

“Lennon’s cousin tagged Lennon’s mum on the post about a cameo and said, ‘Early Christmas present?’ [with a] smiley face,” Jon told Life & Style. “And I don’t know why, I do it sometimes, I just snoop on people to see who’s who. So I clicked on [Lennon’s mom] Tatiana’s Instagram and I saw that there was a GoFundMe link in her bio. It said, ‘Looking for a cure for SM’ and I thought, ‘SM? Never heard of it,’ so I clicked on it.”

“I saw that it was a baby and I read down and there were some updates on there,” Jon explained. He kept scrolling and realized that there hadn’t been any recent donations on the page.

“I saw that their fundraising had obviously exhausted everyone they know and it obviously started to run a bit dry,” he added. He explained that since GoFundMe releases funds as the donations come in instead of paying the amount in full at the end of the fundraising period, he knew that Lennon’s family had stopped receiving the monetary help they’d needed.

He then decided to reach out to Lennon’s mom to ask if it would be okay for him to share their GoFundMe on his Instagram.

“[When] I clicked on her profile, I scrolled down and I saw some photos of Lennon where her skin, because she doesn’t actually have cancer. It was categorized as cancer, but it’s different,” Jon explained. “But they still treat it with chemo, but the skin peels off anything that touches it. So she had blisters all over her back and all over her face and she was just absolutely covered in sores where her skin had peeled off.”

“And she was just looking up, like, [with] the wisest eyes I’ve ever seen and for me, it actually broke my heart,” Jon said.

Little Lennon was diagnosed with systemic mastocytosis, which is a form of mastocytosis. It is a disorder where the body accumulates an overabundance of mast cells, which normally help protect the body against diseases, according to MayoClinic.

With systemic mastocytosis, the extra mast cells build up in the skin, bone marrow, bones and gastrointestinal tract. Symptoms include such as facial flushing, itching, rapid heartbeat, abdominal cramps, lightheadedness or loss of consciousness.

As a father to his wife Rachel Walters‘ daughter, Lucy, Jon really felt sympathy for Lennon and her family.

“If Lucy had got sick, I never would’ve met her. She wouldn’t have been able to travel, like, my whole life would’ve changed if Lucy had been sick,” Jon said.

“So I saw that, saw how badly Lennon really was ill, saw the GoFundMe had plateaued out and they’d exhausted all the people they knew who could donate,” Jon continued. “I just thought, I got 95 thousand people following me and I don’t need them to follow me for me. We didn’t do the show to get famous. So, I decided to share my platform a little bit with Lennon.”

“I’m f–king blessed, Rachel’s amazing, Lucy’s perfect and if we ever needed help, we would have thousands and thousands of people come and help us and Lennon doesn’t have that platform,” Jon added. That’s when he started to share Lennon’s GoFundMe on his page.

“I brainstormed a lot thinking about different ways that we can help and I just thought, you know what? Everyone’s got an opinion about my beard, so people can put up or shut up,” Jon explained.

Now, he’s urging fans to donate and then write a note to Lennon in the comments and then hashtag it shave or save, and at the end of the month, he will count through and see which had the most votes.

“So I’ve put my beard on the chopping block. It looks like it’s definitely going to be shaved,” he said. “In three weeks we’ve moved £2,500 [$3,297].”

As for Rachel’s thoughts? Jon said his wife would support him either way, with or without a beard.

“Rachel knows that I’m a person of principle. She knows that my actions are always driven by what’s right. She doesn’t have a preference because we spend most of the time on the phone,” Jon said of their long-distance marriage. “Our relationship is a relationship of words and of thought.”
