Season 13 of NBC’s hit talent competition series America’s Got Talent just kicked off, and now that we are in the fouth round of auditions, the variety of frontrunner acts are really rounding out and it’s all thanks to the Golden Buzzer! So far this season, there were a lot of acts that wowed judges Simon Cowell, Heidi Klum, Mel B, and Howie Mandel — and yes, even host Tyra Banks — with their performances.

During the fourth round of auditions, viewers got to see a lot of talented acts like singer Daniel Emmett, light dance crew Udi, and female daredevil Annaliese Nock. But only one act would be deemed Golden Buzzer worthy, and that was Amanda Mena.

The 15-year-old was the fourth act to steal the Golden Buzzer this season and it wasn’t just her performance of Aretha Franklin’s classic hit “Natural Woman” that wowed the judges. Her heartbreaking story about being bullied also tugged at everyone’s heartstrings, and Mel was so moved that she hit the Golden Buzzer as a way to clap back at all of the kids who bullied Amanda.

What is the Golden Buzzer on AGT?

The Golden Buzzer was introduced to the show during Season 9 and it literally is a golden button that sits at the judges’ table during the audition rounds. When a judge or the host hits the Golden Buzzer, that means the performer is allowed to bypass all of the other rounds and go straight to the live shows to compete in the finals. Each judge and the host gets one chance to hit the Golden Buzzer, so they have to choose wisley.

Even though there are only four judges and one host, more than five acts will eventually earn Golden Buzzer per season. During the auditions, a guest judge often joins the show and they are allowed to hit the Golden Buzzer once.

Who got the Golden Buzzer so far on AGT?

Zurcaroh is an acrobatic dance troupe from Austria and they put on a dazzling show of amazing feats. It was even more impressive when the group leader Peterson da Cruz Hora said that he never turns down anyone who wants to join Zurcaroh because he believes that no one should be excluded — and that means that Zurcaroh is made up of people from varying levels of experience and skill. Their performance was enough to earn Tyra’s Golden Buzzer.

Singer and father-of-six Michael Keterrer was so talented and his emotional story was so touching that Simon couldn’t help but hit the Golden Buzzer for him, and Howie’s Golden Buzzer went to 13-year-old singer Courtney Hadwin.

Who got the Golden Buzzers last season?

Darci Lynne Farmer, Mandy Harvey, Christian Guardino, Light Balance, Angelina Green, Chase Goehring, Celine Tam, and Johnny Manuel all were sent straight to the live shows. And if it’s worth anything, Darci Lynne went on to win Season 12 — so it seems like winning the Golden Buzzer gives the performer an advantage in the competition.
