Alicia Keys is a boy mom! The New York native, who is known for her sultry ballads and musical talent, shares two sons with her husband, Swizz Beatz.
Meet Alicia Keys and Swizz Beats’ 2 Children
The “No One” singer and New York music producer welcomed their first child, son Egypt Daoud Dean, in October 2010. The couple welcomed their second child, son Genesis Ali Dean, in December 2014, four years later.
In addition to their two sons, Swizz Beats (real name: Kasseem Dean) is father to three children from previous relationships: Prince Nasir, Kasseem “KJ” Dean Jr. and Nicole Dean.
Alicia Keys Has Gushed About Motherhood
Alicia is a highly accomplishment musician and was just 20 years old when she won five Grammys in 2002. However, she said it was motherhood that has given her a “stronger sense of clarity” in life.
“I used to be less aware of how I wanted to spend my time and more influenced by other people,” she told Harper’s Bazaar in September 2019. “After I had my kids, I felt like I had found my North Star. I was less wasteful; I worked more effectively.”
Alicia previously opened up about the transformational power of having children in a social media caption that was partially quoted from her memoir, More Myself.
“What if I’m not cut out for motherhood? What if I fail at being responsible for a child—a life? What if I can’t do this? There’s probably not a person on earth who hasn’t asked those questions in some form, at some point in time,” she captioned a May 2019 post. “The fear of possible inadequacy is real. I felt determined to do for my child what I’d once struggled to do for myself: rid my life of all circumstances that no longer served me.”
Genesis and Egypt Made a Rare Appearance at the 2025 Grammy Awards
The 2025 Grammy Awards in Los Angeles was a family affair, with Egypt and Genesis joining their parents as the “Fallin’” singer accepted the Dr. Dre Global Impact Award during the February ceremony.
Egypt showcased his pre-teen style, wearing a vintage Team U.S.A. biker jacket and Nike sneakers, while his younger brother looked adorable in a classic suit and tie.
Genesis was brought onstage by his mother and was right by her side as she accepted the award. “My beautiful kids Egypt, Genesis, KJ, Nicki, Nas for sharing me with the world,” the “Like You’ll Never See Me Again” hitmaker said in her speech. “And to my brilliant husband, soulmate and the ultimate dream weaver Swizzy.”
Alicia’s youngest son stole the spotlight at another moment during the award show when he was seen dancing with pop star Taylor Swift during Shakira’s performance. “Gen & @taylorswift jamming,” the “Money in the Bank” artist captioned a clip of the footage to his Instagram Stories.
Swizz also included a shot of his sons standing with “You Belong With Me” singer. Egypt was seen sharing something from his phone with Taylor, while Genesis stood between them, who had a shocked expression.
