For those of you who may not know, the Catholic church doesn’t recognize divorce. Therefore, unless Gwen has her marriage annulled, she and the country crooner will be unable to exchange vows in a church.

Ultimately, whereas divorce acknowledges that the marriage took place, getting an annulment means your courtship was “invalid” a.k.a technically didn’t happen. Thankfully, once the annulment matter is taken care of, we have ~no doubt~ that the lovebirds will have a beautiful life together.
