University of Kentucky Cheerleader’s Ex-Boyfriend Provides DNA After Baby’s Death

University of Kentucky cheerleader Laken Snelling’s ex-boyfriend Izaiah Hall has provided his DNA to police after she was accused of hiding her baby’s dead body in a closet.

Hall’s father, Justin Smith, told the New York Post in an interview published on Saturday, September 6, that his son recently gave the DNA sample to police involved in the case.

“Lexington police had him come down to the station to give a sample,” Smith said. “I don’t know anything on this and we don’t know if Izaiah is the father or not.”

Smith added, “I don’t really want to go into any more detail at this stage.”

Hall, 21, is a college athlete who plays quarterback at the University of the Cumberlands in Williamsburg, Kentucky. He is also studying Business Administration at the school.

Prior to his college career, Hall attended Anderson County High School in Clinton, Tennessee, which is roughly 50 miles away from where Snelling, 21, was a student at Jefferson County High School in Dandridge, Tennessee.

It is not currently known how long Hall and Snelling dated or when they broke up.

However, Snelling shared several posts on social media with another young man just months before her arrest. She appeared to be in a relationship with the unidentified man and even shared photos from what appeared to be a couples photoshoot via TikTok on June 18.

It’s not known if the man in the photos is connected to the death of Snelling’s baby, and it’s also not clear if they were romantically involved at the time of the baby’s death.

Snelling first made headlines when she was arrested on August 30 at her home in Lexington, Kentucky. She was charged with Abuse of a Corpse, Tampering with Physical Evidence and Concealing the Birth of an Infant.

The arrest took place three days after authorities were dispatched to the home on August 27 after they received a call about an unresponsive infant. The “infant was located wrapped in a towel inside of a black trash bag,” according to the arrest citation.

While speaking to authorities, Snelling “admitted to giving birth” and to “concealing the birth by cleaning any evidence, placing all cleaning items used inside of a black trash bag, including the infant, who was wrapped in a towel.”

She appeared in court on September 2, where she pleaded not guilty to all charges. Snelling was released on $100,000 bond, and she is now on “home incarceration with no ankle monitor” while living with her parents in Tennessee. Her preliminary court hearing is scheduled to take place on September 26.

Following her arrest, the University of Kentucky confirmed she was a student at the school and was a member of the university’s STUNT team. However, a spokesperson for the school confirmed to Us Weekly that she is no longer a student at the college as of September 5.
