Kicking butt — literally! Courteney Cox’s latest passion consists of intense workouts such as kickboxing. The Friends alum, 54, is focusing on her health now so she can have a better future.

“She’s doing these punishing, no pain, no gain MMA workouts that push her to her absolute limit,” a source told Life & Style. “They get her the kind of results she never imagined possible at her age. It’s not even about looking good for roles or for men or anything like that — Courteney is obsessed with being strong and in fighting shape when she’s in her 60s and she’s laying the groundwork for that now.”

While the actress has always maintained a slim figure, she’s obsessed with becoming strong. The workouts she’s been doing lately aren’t easy. Instead, they challenge her, which keeps things interesting.

“She’s exercising every single day and learning how to punch, kick and fight her way to fitness,” the insider revealed. “Instead of low impact workouts like yoga and Pilates, she’s focusing on learning this completely new set of skills. When you push yourself  this hard, there’s always a chance you can get hurt, but that’s a risk she’s willing to take for the perfect body.”

When she’s not spending countless of hours at the gym, Courteney likes to spend time with her longtime boyfriend, Johnny McDaid. During an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Court got candid about her significant other. “He’s my partner. That’s what he calls it, my partner. And I’m from Alabama, so you don’t really say partner unless you’re in the same sex.”

“He’s my guy, he’s my one, but saying partner’s difficult for me,” Courteney gushed before she told a funny story about a mixup that happened to the couple.

“I was in Atlanta not that long ago and I was like, ‘Oh, I’m supposed to meet my partner in section F,’ and they were like, ‘Oh, I’m sure she’s going to be there, don’t worry about it,'” she said. “Not that it matters, but it’s just a different way to speak.” We wonder if Johnny is her gym partner too!
