Did Tanner Frick Leave ‘The Voice’? What Happened to the Team Michael Buble Singer in the Knockouts

The Voice season 26 Knockouts began on November 11, 2024, but the end of the night left many viewers scratching their heads. Throughout the episode, coaches Reba McEntire, Gwen Stefani and Snoop Dogg each paired up three members of their teams for sing-offs. The winner of each sing-off will move forward to compete in the Playoffs. In the final Knockout of the evening, Michael Bublé selected his three team members, but only two singers took to the stage for the sing-off. What happened to Tanner Frick on The Voice?

Who Is Tanner Frick?

Tanner is a 26-year-old country singer originally from Brandon, Mississippi, who lives in Manchester, Tennessee. When he’s not performing, he “keeps the city of Manchester running smoothly by overseeing the sewer lines and pumps,” according to his bio on NBC’s website.

“He handles clogs, ensures that all machinery functions properly and has the water filtered for E. Coli to keep the fish safe to eat,” the bio continues. “Although music has always been his passion, Tanner was taught early on that it wasn’t a practical career choice. Raised by his father, who was also his best friend, Tanner eventually gained a stepbrother, Garrett, who introduced him to the guitar when Tanner was 13. As he grew older, Tanner played at friends’ birthday parties and some bars, but he never performed for more than 125 people.”

The bio concludes, “Due to work commitments, he never had the opportunity to play at larger venues or fully pursue his musical dream. This changed when Tanner met his wife, Madison, who encouraged him to follow his passion. Now, they rent a trailer and live on two acres with their three dogs. They enjoy a fulfilling life together, with hobbies including fishing, hunting and spending time with family.”

Before Michael’s teammates headed to the competition, host Carson Daly told the crooner, “Michael, Tanner [Frick] left the competition after rehearsals. You still have Cameron [Wright] and Sloane [Simon].”

Carson did not share a reason for Tanner’s exit, and the Manchester native has not spoken out about his exit from the competition. However, Tanner did post a somewhat cryptic message on social media after the episode aired, leading fans to wonder if it had to do with his departure.

“Ain’t nobody want me anyway,” he captioned a TikTok video of himself singing in a studio.

“So sad to hear you left The Voice. Not sure what happened, but you’re going to be missed,” one fan commented on the clip, while another user added, “I had you on my team from day 1 on the app. [Sad] to see you go but things happen. Keep pursuing the music.”

“I have a feeling he left to get signed with a record label… I hope that’s the case. Loved hearing your voice,” a third fan commented.

Tanner Frick Earned a 4-Chair Turn in the Blind Auditions on ‘The Voice’

Tanner earned chair turns from all four coaches in the Blind Auditions with his performance of Morgan Wallen’s “Thought You Should Know.”

“I picked this song because it’s very inspiring that he started here and now look at him,” Tanner said, referring to Morgan’s start on The Voice in 2014. “He’s one of the biggest country artists in the world. If he can do it, anybody can do it.”

Reba, Snoop, Michael and Gwen all fought hard to get the singer on their teams.

“You represent so many great parts of the greatest gift America might have ever given to the arts. I want to be part of that,” Michael said.

Meanwhile, Reba pointed out, “Tanner, I thought you sang really really well. I love that song. When you did that Chris Stapleton growl, it just added so much dimension to your voice.”

Tanner ultimately chose to join Team Reba. However, in the Battles, his coach chose fellow country singer Tate Renner as the winner. Michael saved Tanner from going home by using his steal to bring the singer to his team.

“Tanner Frick was a huge win for me. That’s a former four-chair turn and a piece of the puzzle that I didn’t have,” the “Feeling Good” singer shared.
