As soon as the clock strikes midnight on New Year’s Eve, everyone and their mother decides it’s time to get their life in check. While some people resolve to read more or save money, the majority declare that the next 365 days are going to be all about their health and fitness. Unsurprisingly, Gwyneth Paltrow is one of those people.

Here’s the thing, though: Whereas the average person cuts back on, let’s say, carbs or something, the actress, 46, cuts backs on everything. During the latest episode of The Goop Podcast, the mother-of-two detailed exactly what her annual detox regimen looks like and well, it’s no freakin’ joke.

“I usually detox at least once a year unless I’m testing something out for goop.com, which has been known to happen quite a few times. It’s a ritual that I — I’m not going to say I look forward to it, but when it’s done, I always feel like it was very worthwhile,” she began. Psh. Who are you trying to fool, G?

“I would say, cut out sugar, dairy, and gluten to start with and processed foods and just try to eat lots of vegetables, good quality proteins, and just start slow,” she advised. “I think a lot of times we think, ‘Oh my gosh, I have to follow all these rules!’ It can be as light as just being conscious about what you’re eating and putting in your body. I think also starting to read ingredient panels is a really good way to start.”

While that may not sound so terrible, it definitely seems to be a very all or nothing approach. But what happens when the detox is over? Will we end up going HAM on all of the stuff we’ve been avoiding for the last 30+ days? Sigh. Most likely. It’s the thought that counts, though, right? Thanks anyway, Gwyn.
